A 55-year-old man died under a train while crossing the rail tracks at Chalimpur union’s Faujdarhat area in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district on Saturday. The deceased, Salauddin, was the son of late Ledur of the area. Locals said the man, a night guard of Seema Steel Factory, was on his way home after his shift ended in the morning. A 25-year-old youth died after being crushed between two rollers of a softening and cleaning machine at a jute mill in Shibrampur upazila of Faridpur on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Raju Sheikh, of the upazila. He was a worker at RM Jute Mill. Raju accidently crushed between two rollers of a machine used for jute while working at the mill around 9am, said Md Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali police station. Read: Couple among three killed in Cumilla road accident Later, the fire service men recovered the body from the machine, said Faridpur Fire Service Senior Station Manager Subhash Baroi. Legal steps will be taken after an investigation, said the OC.

A 10-year old girl was killed on her way to school after being hit by a bus at Tongi in Gazipur on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Fatema Haque, a student of class three of Sahajuddin School. Her aunt Shahnaj Begum also suffered injuries in the accident. Fatema used to live with her paternal aunt at Bonomala in Tongi as both her parents are Dubai expatriates, said Yasin Arafat, Sub-Inspector of Tongi east police station. Read: Four killed in Barishal road accident When Fatema with her aunt Shahnaj was going to school by a rickshaw around 7 am a staff bus of Kohinoor Chemicals Factory hit it, leaving her dead on the spot. Angered by the accident, hundreds of students of Sahajuddin School blocked Bonomala-Tongi road around 10 am and staged demonstrations  demanding arrest of the bus driver, said police. After an hour students left the road around 11 am after police and teachers assured them of justice, said SI Yasin Arafat. “The body has been sent for an autopsy and legal action will be taken in this regard,” said Jabed Khan Masud, officer-in-Charge of Tongi east police station.

A man was crushed to death under a train at Nakhalpara in Tejgaon area of the capital on Monday. The deceased was identified as Mohram Ali, 50, a vegetable trader and son of Ibrahim Ali of Raipura upazila in Narsingdi district. A Chinese UN envoy on Thursday stressed that the terrorist groups in northwest Syria must be "resolutely crushed" in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions and international law.
