BNP’s 43rd founding anniversary observed
BNP and its associate bodies celebrated the 43rd founding anniversary of the party across the country on Wednesday with various programmes.
On September 1, 1978, late President Ziaur Rahman founded the party with a 19-point programme to build a self-reliant Bangladesh.
The party flag was hoisted atop its Nayapaltan central office and all other offices of BNP across the country at 6am.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir together with party senior leaders placed wreaths and offered fateha at the grave of its founder Ziaur Rahman at 11am, marking the day.
Later, the leaders and activists of BNP’s Dhaka south and north units also placed wreaths at Zia’s grave at 11:30am.
Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) arranged a health camp on the ground floor of the BNP’s central office at 12noon.
On the occasion, the party will also arrange a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday.
BNP's associate bodies and all other units across the country also marked the day by holding various programmes, including discussions and providing assistance to Covid-infected patients through the party's Covid-19 help centres.

In its 42 years' journey, BNP had been in power for four times and in the opposition bench twice.

BNP to celebrate founding anniversary on Sept 1
BNP on Tuesday chalked out various programmes, including virtual discussions, to celebrate its 43rd founding anniversary on September 1.
BNP organizing secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince announced the programmes at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.

He said they will observe all the programmes, maintaining social-distancing rules.
As per the programmes, the party flag will be hoisted atop its Nayapaltan central office and all other offices of BNP across the country at 6am on September 1.
Besides, BNP standing committee members will place wreaths and offer fateha at the grave of its founder Ziaur Rahman at 11am on the day.
Later, the leaders and activists of BNP’s Dhaka south and north units will also place wreaths at Zia’s grave at 12noon.
The party will also arrange a virtual discussion at 3pm on the day.

Islami Bank observes 38th founding anniversary
Islami Bank Bangladesh Wednesday organised a programme of prayer to mark its 38th founding anniversary in the capital.
Professor Md Nazmul Hassan, chairman of the bank, addressed the function on a virtual platform as the chief guest.
Presided over by Mohammed Monirul Moula, managing director and chief executive officer of the bank, the programme was attended by additional managing directors Muhammad Qaisar Ali and Md Omar Faruk Khan.
Deputy managing directors Abu Reza Md Yeahia, Taher Ahmad Chowdhury, AAM Habibur Rahman and Md Mosharraf Hossain also joined the programme.

Prayers were offered for the overall progress of the bank, the well-being of all the directors, executives, officers, employees, clients, and well-wishers and the safety of the people amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Professor Nazmul Hassan said Islami Bank was established with the motto of conducting Shariah-based banking.
"A large segment of clients in the banking sector are out of Islamic banking services; we have to address them. Islami Bank has been able to come to its present position with honesty, sincerity and devotion of its officers and employees and the support of the people," Nazmul said.

"The bank has been playing an important role in alleviating poverty by conducting asset-based and welfare-oriented investment activities along with creating large industrial groups."
Munirul Moula said Islamic banking is a successful reality now in Bangladesh. "Islami Bank has become the top bank in the country in all activities including import, export and remittance services."
