Sirajganj SP, wife, daughter infected with coronavirus
Police superintendent of Sirajganj his wife and daughter have been infected with coronavirus.
Samples of SP Hasibul Alam (BPM), his wife and daughter were sent to a lab for coronavirus test on Thursday afternoon and received the reports on Friday, said the SP on Saturday morning.
They are undergoing treatment at home.
According to Sirajganj civil surgeon office, so far 1,021coronavirus cases have been detected in the district.
Besides, 10 people died from the virus infection in the district.

Jashore civil surgeon infected with coronavirus
The civil surgeon of Jashore Dr Md Sheikh Abu Shahid has been infected with coronavirus.
The test result came from the Jashore University of Science and Technology lab on Sunday.
Fifteen people, including the civil surgeon, were diagnosed with the Covid-19 today.

Covid-19: Cumilla doctor dies
An associate professor of paediatrics department at the central medical college who was infected with coronavirus, died on Saturday.
The deceased doctor, Dr Mujibur Rahman Ripon, was undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital, said Dr Safikur Rahman, Principal of Cumilla Central Medical College.
He was a graduate of the fifth batch of Faridpur Medical College.
He left behind his wife, who is also a doctor, and two sons.
Meanwhile, the health authorities on Saturday announced 3,240 new coronavirus cases across the country in the span of 24 hours, taking the total number to 108,775.
The death toll from the various rose to 1,425 as another 37 infected people lost their lives during the period.

Covid-19: 20 judges among 103 court officials infected
A total of 20 judges and 59 staff of subordinate courts and 24 officials of the Supreme Court were infected with coronavirus while working for the virtual court as of Saturday.
“Besides, another six judges were put in isolation with Covid-19 symptoms,” said Md Saifur Rahman, special officer of Bangladesh Supreme Court.
He also informed that currently 15 coronavirus-infected judges of subordinate courts are undergoing treatment at home.
Office assistant Mohiuddin Mohon of Naogaon District Judge Court and Md Kausar, another official of Madaripur Judge Court died with Covid-19 symptoms on Friday and Thursday respectively, he added.
Meanwhile corona-infected Judge Ferdous Ahmed of Lalmonirhat Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal is undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Senior District Judge Begum Shamim Ahmed, Special Judge Court-8, Dhaka, is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Protecting people, keeping economy moving is ‘war’: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said keeping away people from getting infected with coronavirus and running wheels of economy simultaneously is a 'war'.
"We have also taken steps so that economic activities could continue running, we have been able to place a budget, this is a kind of war," she said.
The Prime Minister said this while speaking in Parliament taking part in the condolence motion on former minister and ruling Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim.
The House also expressed deep shock at the death of State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
Sheikh Hasina said that deaths of two co-fighters of her, Nasim and Abdullah, is very much painful to her as both of them were always beside her in all movements and struggles.
She said that COVID-19 brought the whole world to a standstill and an unnatural situation.
"The world is now under the grip of panic of death. This is very much strange. We’ve never seen this kind of situation in the past," she said.
In this connection, she said that while she was coming to Parliament today many of her well-wishers requested her not to go there.
But she turned down their requests saying that she had faced bullets, bombs and grenades, and she will not sit idle out of the fear of this virus.
"This fear has clutched the whole world, developed, developing or poor countries, powerful countries in terms of arms and money, there is no difference, all become one by this fear and panic of coronavirus, the situation is the same everywhere," she said.

Coronavirus: UNO, OC among 11 infected in Netrakona
Eleven people including an Upazila Nirbahi Officer and an Officer-in-Charge were infected with coronavirus in Netrakona district on Monday night.
Deputy Commissioner Md Moinul Islam said the samples of the infected people were collected on Saturday and the report came on Monday night.
The laboratory of Microbiology Department of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital has been conducting coronavirus test in the district, he added.
According to Civil Surgeon Office sources, among the newly infected people six are from Kendua upazila, three from Barhatta and one each from Modon and Atpara upazila.

2 health workers among 9 infected with Covid-19 in Chapainawabganj
Nine people, including two health workers ,were infected with coronavirus in the district, raising the number of such cases here to 11.
Civil Surgeon Dr Zahid Nazrul Chowdhury, said report of 84 people was received from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Wednesday and found nine people infected.
Of those, three people are from Sadar upazila, three from Nachole upazila, two from Bholahat and one from Shibganj upazila of the district, he said.
All of them were sent on home quarantine, he added.
The country has so fir confirmed 186 deaths and 11,719 coronavirus cases.

Coronavirus: 113 policemen infected in 24 hours
A total of 113 members of Bangladesh Police were infected with coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.
With the latest cases of infection, the number of total infected policemen stood at 854 until this morning.
Besides, five members of law enforcement agencies died from COVID-19, according to the Police Headquarters.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases as a total of 449 policemen of DMP tested positive for coronavirus.
Currently, 1,250 policemen are in quarantine while 315 being treated at isolation units.
Besides, 57 patients made full recovery, it said.
Members of the Bangladesh Police, Armed Forces, and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), along with other agencies have been jointly working to ensure social distancing across the country.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG- Media) of the Police Headquarters Md Sohel Rana said they are trying to ensure the protection of police members.
Bangladesh has so far recorded 8,790 cases and 175 deaths from the coronavirus.
Considering the worsening coronavirus situation, the government is about to extend the ongoing general holidays again till May 16 in a bid to prevent the transmission of the deadly virus.
