An airstrike on a rebel-held northwestern Syrian city struck a school Tuesday, killing three people, Syrian opposition activists said, as government forces moved forward in their offensive toward a town considered a symbol of the uprising against President Bashar Assad.

Syrian troops have made significant advances against the last rebel held enclaves in the country's northwest, state media said on Sunday, consolidating the government's hold over the key Aleppo province.
