Man beaten to death in C’nawabganj
A 53-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by the guards while stealing mango from an orchard at Khandura in Nachole upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Shukuddi, 53, son of Faizuddin of the upazila.

Mintu Rahman, officer-in-charge of Nachole Police Station, said Sukuddi went to the mango orchard on Tuesday night for stealing mango of ‘Katimon’ variety.
Two guards—Shamim and Hasan—who were on duty at the orchard, caught Shukuddi and gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead.

On information, police recovered the body on Wednesday morning and arrested the two guards.

'Cattle thief' beaten to death in Noakhali
A man was lynched to death by residents in Charafkira union of Naokhali's Companiganj upazila in the early hours on Wednesday on suspicion of being a cattle thief, police said.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
A gang of thieves swooped on the cowsheds of Zakir Hossain and Noor Uddin in the Arjuntala area of the upazila around 3.30am, district SP Mohammad Shahidul Islam said.

"Sensing the presence of the thieves, local people surrounded them and caught one of them while the others managed to flee. He was beaten to death by the villagers," the officer added.
The body was recovered by police and sent to the Noakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
"Additional police force has been deployed in the area to avert further trouble," he said.

Expat Bangladeshi 'beaten to death in Paris'
An expatriate Bangladeshi has been beaten to death by a group of miscreants in French capital Paris, his family sources said on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, 43, originally from Sirajdikhan upazila of Sirajganj. He lived in Paris with his family and worked at a restaurant.

According to the family sources, Sohel was returning home from work around 5am on Saturday when the miscreants blocked his way and beat him up, leaving him seriously injured.
"He was rushed to a city hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning," said the deceased’s father, Azizul Hoque, who lives in Dhaka.
"The restaurant owner has lodged a complaint at a police station in Paris," he added.

Woman 'beaten to death' in Jhenaidah
A 40-year-old woman was beaten to death allegedly by her neighbours over a small matter in Berbinni village of Harinakundu upazila in Jhenaidah district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Asmani Khatun, wife of Amzad Hossain of the village.
The victim's husband said that Asmani had an argument with Sumaiya Khatun, wife of Ujjal Hossain of the village, on Sunday over their children playing in the neighborhood.

Following the incident, Sumaiya, along with her family members, allegedly thrashed Asmani when she went to the canal next to the house of the accused later that afternoon, leaving her critically injured.
Asmani was rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital. She was transferred to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital on Monday after her condition deteriorated, where she succumbed to her injuries this morning.

Sumaiya and her family members are on the run, said Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Harinakundu police station. "Details will be revealed following a probe."

30-yr-old man beaten to death in Khulna
A 30-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his uncle and three of his family members in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Halim Fakir, a resident of the Batiaghata upazila .
According to the family of the deceased, Halim was beaten by his uncle Babul Fakir, his wife Aleya Begum, and two sons-in-law Iqbal Hossain and Wahidur at Surkhali Bazar area of the upazila over a trifling matter.

Later, locals rushed Halim to Gazi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
They also caught Babul Fakir, Aleya Begum, Iqbal Hossain and Wahidur and handed them over to police.
Officer-in-charge of Batiaghata Police Station Zayed said Halim died at Gazi Medical College Hospital on Friday night while undergoing treatment there.

Youth beaten dead in Ctg over IPL betting
A 24-year-old youth was beaten to death allegedly by some other youths over betting on an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Hathazari in Chattogram early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Farooq, a resident of Aminbazar area of the town.

Rajib Sharma, inspector (investigation) of Hathazari police station, said Farooq locked into an altercation with some youths at Aminbazar near Najim colony over betting on an IPL match at around 1am.
At one stage, they beat up Farooq with sticks indiscriminately, leaving him severely injured.
He was later rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
The body was kept at CMCH morgue for an autopsy.

The main suspect, Farhad, has not been detained yet. “However, we have detained one person for interrogation,” said Inspector Rajib.
Legal action will be taken after an investigation, the officer added.

Mistaken for robber, man beaten to death in Gaibandha
A man who went to meet his ex-wife in Gaibandha was allegedly lynched to death by an angry mob Thursday on suspicion of being a robber.
The deceased was identified as Sakhawat Hossain, son of Abdur Razzak of Gaibandha town.
Police said that local residents mistook Sakhawat as a robber and thrashed him to death when he went to Tari village in Kholahati of Sadar upazila to meet his former wife in the early hours of the day.

Masudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Gaibandha Sadar Police Station, said, "His ex-wife Shiuli's husband Bayejid Islam came to know that Sakhawat had come to meet her secretly in Tari and alerted locals."
The residents thrashed the victim, suspecting him to be a robber, leaving him critically injured, said the OC.
Sakhawat was rushed to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital where he died of his injuries. "Shiuli and her husband have been detained in connection with the death," the OC added.

Son held for beating mother to death in Khagrachari
Police arrested a man on Saturday for allegedly beating his mother to death over family feuding at Ramgarh upazila in Khagrachari. Police said.
Son Ibrahim, 24, was immediately held with a murder case lodged with police against him, said local OC Md Shamsuzzaman.
According to police, at one point of altercation Ibrahim started beating his mother Bibi Rahima,60, around 10:30 pm leaving her with a head injury at their house in Chowdhury Para area.

Bibi died on the spot. Informed by the neighbours later police recovered the body, said the officer-in-charge of Ramgarh police station.
The body has been sent for an autopsy, said the OC.

55-yr-old beaten to death in Meherpur
A 55-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by some people in the Amjhupi Purbapara area of the district's Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Bashar Molla, a resident of the Amjhupi area.
Shah Dara Khan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Abdul's son Salahuddin had constructed a speed-breaker in front of his grocery shop.

On Wednesday, Salauddin had an altercation with the driver and the salesman of Speed Energy Drink company as their vehicle got stuck while negotiating the speed-breaker.
At one stage, the workers of Meherpur Palli Bidyut Samity also joined them and beat Salauddin up mercilessly. When Abul tried to save his son, he was also beaten up.
A critically injured Abul died on the way to hospital, the OC said.

48-yr-old man beaten to death over suspected illicit affair in Ctg
A 48-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by another man on the suspicion that he was having an extramarital affair with the latter's ex-wife in Chattogram port city, police said.
The deceased was identified as Abu Taher, a resident of the Patenga area. The accused has been arrested, police said Saturday.
Kabir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Patenga Police Station, said that the accused, Abdul Jalil, divorced his wife Roushan last month over a family feud.

"Recently, Jalil (40) went to Roushan’s house and desired his wish to remarry her.
During his visit to Roushan’s house, Jalil suspected that she was having an extra-marital affair with Taher," the OC said.
On Thursday night, Jalil, along with two of his aides, went to Taher’s house and beat him up mercilessly, leaving him critically injured. An injured Taher was rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital, where he died of his injuries on Friday night.
