Bangladesh Mission in New Delhi pays homage to language martyrs
Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Monday paid tributes to the 1952 language martyrs through "probhat fery and by placing wreaths" at a Shaheed Minar at the chancery.
The national flag was hoisted at half mast. A special prayer was offered seeking divine blessings for the martyrs. One minute silence was also observed in memory of the martyrs.
Visiting State Minister for Foreign Afairs Md. Shahriar Alam, High Commissioner Muhammad Imran, central leaders of Awami League, Members of the Parliament, officers, staff and family members of the mission participated in the probhat fery.
The Ekushe elegy “Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushe February” was sung at the parade along the chancery premises.

Sajeeb Wazed highlights Bangabandhu's heroic role in language movement
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy has paid tribute to all language martyrs on the Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, shedding light on the role of Bangabandhu in catalysing the movement to uphold the mother tongue.
In a Facebook post from his verified account, he shared part of an animated film titled ‘Mujib – My Father’, portraying the charismatic leadership demonstrated by the father of the nation in the historic language movement and the wrath he incurred from West Pakistan.

The film was made under the supervision of the ICT Division.
“How were the days during the language movement? How did young student leader (Father of the Nation Bangabandhu) Sheikh Mujibur Rahman organize students for the struggle? Why was he imprisoned for entire three years between 1949 and 1952?” he posed questions, accompanied by the animated film that answered all of them.

The film recreated the fiery historic moments of the language movement where Dhaka was seething with protests against the declaration that Urdu would be the only state language of entire Pakistan, a decision deliberately neglecting tens of millions of Bangla-speakers.
In a separate post, he commemorated the supreme sacrifice of the language martyrs.

Nation to pay heartfelt tributes to language martyrs Monday
As the air fills with the sadness of the song "Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February," the nation will pay deep respects to the martyrs of the Language Movement Monday, marking "Amar Ekushey," Shaheed Dibash (Martyrs' Day) and International Mother Language Day.
Seventy years ago, the Language Movement was aimed at establishing the right of the mother tongue as well as protecting self-identity, culture and heritage.
It inspired the nation to a great extent to achieve the right to self-determination and struggle for freedom and the Liberation War.
With wreaths and flowers, people from all walks of life will pay tributes to the heroes of the Language Movement of 1952, who laid down their lives for achieving the recognition of Bangla as the state language of then Pakistan, at the Central Shaheed Minar.

My alphabet earned with blood, says Joy paying tribute to language martyrs
Ahead of the 70th anniversary of the historic language movement, Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy has paid tribute to the language movement heroes who sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue on February 21, 1952.
In a Facebook post from his verified account, he wrote, "21st means not bowing down. A heartfelt tribute to all the martyrs of February, the month of language."

The post accompanied a picture of Shaheed Minar, the national monument commemorating the supreme sacrifice of the language heroes, with a text on it saying, "My alphabet earned with blood".
