Two CMP cops missing after training in Netherlands, says police official
Two constables of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) did not return to the country on completion of training in the Dog Squad in the Netherlands, a police officer said on Friday.
The two, Shah Alam from Cox's Bazar and Russell Chandra Dey from Cumilla, are suspected to have fled the camp to stay back.

In Bangladesh, they stayed in the barracks of CMP's Dampara Police Lines and Mansurabad Police Lines.
Amir Zafar, deputy commissioner of CMP (Headquarters) said that on May 9, a team of 8 members of Chattogram Metropolitan Police went to the Netherlands to join the15- day training on Dog Squad management and operation.
But the day before departure, two constables left the camp in the afternoon in the name of tour. Since then, they have not been found, he said, adding that efforts are on to find them through the police headquarters and the foreign ministry.

The incident has already been reported to the Netherlands' embassy and police headquarters.
“We are not sure yet whether they have fled or not." "If it is, action will be taken against them for violating discipline," the officer added.
Covid-19: CMP Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman infected
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman was diagnosed with coronavirus on early Tuesday.
The CMP Commissioner himself confirmed the matter over phone at around 1am, saying that he tested positive but he had few symptoms of infection.
“I’m doing well even although I’m already infected,” he said. Rahman and his took coronavirus test as they were suffering from fever for the last few days.
He said his wife tested negative.
“After returning home, I’ve gone into isolation,” he said early Tuesday.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said he was yet to get information about the CMP Commissioner’s infection.
While performing duties, policemen and members of other law enforcement agencies have been getting infected in Bangladesh.
Until Monday morning, 6,612 policemen were infected with coronavirus across the country while performing duties.
“Among the total infected policemen, 2,823 have made full recovery until Monday morning,” said AKM Kamrul Ahsan, public relations officer of the police headquarters.
Meanwhile, 18 policemen and a civilian member of the law enforcement agency died of COVID-19 till Monday, he added.
Coronavirus situation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh confirmed its first cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18 but it has been seeing a sharp rise in both new cases and deaths in recent weeks.
The health authorities on Monday reported 68,504 coronavirus cases and 930 deaths in the country.
Among the total confirmed cases, 14,560 people have so far recovered.
Altogether 2,735 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the last 24 hours after testing 12,944 samples at 52 laboratories across the country as of Monday morning.
To curb the spread of the virus, Bangladesh announced a general holiday from March 26 to May 30 but public transports, government and private offices were opened on a limited scale from May 31.
Educational institutions will remain closed until June 15 while offices will remain open on limited scale for maintenance purpose.

A police and a child were among seven people diagnosed with coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Chattogram.
