Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami on Sunday said it would be best if all "inessential" travels are avoided although they would focus on keeping visa services and borders open for now. He also mentioned that seven days' quarantine was being brought in from January 11 for all travellers from abroad, including their own citizens returning to India from anywhere. The High Commissioner made the remarks in response to a question about travel restrictions. Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen formally inaugurated the programme for the diplomats stationed in Dhaka. Around 160 diplomats got booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine on Sunday, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Foreign Minister Dr Momen also said they will discourage travellers through the Bangladesh-India border on health safety grounds. “Even, there’re travels through borders; there should be more health safety measures. Hopefully, we’ll be able to protect our people,” Dr Momen said. "The EU is proud to be supporting the vaccination of the Bangladesh population, with Team Europe delivering more than 10 million vaccines and EIB loan coming on-stream soon," the Ambassador tweeted.

After repeated requests, the UK has removed Bangladesh from its travel red list. Bangladesh is moving to the amber list from 4am Wednesday (September 22). Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen welcomed the decision and thanked the British government for considering Bangladesh’s request. Stranded Europe-bound truckers hoped Tuesday to receive the green light to get out of Britain soon, after some of the most dramatic travel restrictions of the pandemic were imposed on the country following the discovery of a potentially more contagious strain of the coronavirus.

The global outbreak of the Covid-19 has affected life and economy unlike anything the world has ever seen. The travel restrictions that came with this pandemic wreaked havoc on the transport and tourism sectors.   According to the United Nations specialised agency, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a 22 percent fall in international tourist arrivals during the first quarter of 2020.   UNWTO said the crisis could lead to an annual decline of between 60 percent and 80 percent when compared with 2019 figures.   The crisis in tourism business across the globe puts millions of livelihoods at risk and threatens to roll back progress made in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Since the outbreak of the new coronavirus, nations have begun imposing travel restrictions and closing their borders to contain the pandemic's spread. The latest attempt to impose controls involves a smaller territory: the hillside neighborhood of Rocinha in Rio de Janeiro.

The United States on Saturday announced additional travel restrictions on Iran and raised travel advisories for certain areas of Italy and South Korea over coronavirus concerns.

The U.S. is banning travel to Iran in response to the outbreak of the new coronavirus and elevating travel warnings to regions of Italy and South Korea.
