Petrol bomb thrown at goods-carrying truck in N’ganj, helper burnt
Helper of a truck suffered burn injuries from a petrol bomb attack in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon area on Tuesday (November 28, 2023) night.
Md Saimon, 20, is currently undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the truck at Singlabo area, said Sheikh Billal Hossain, additional superintendent of police in Narayanganj.
Bus set on fire in Gazipur during 24-hour blockade
Police are working to identify the arsonist, he said.
The tiles-carrying truck was on its way to Sirajganj from Sonargaon’s Meghnaghat area through the Asian Highway.

The truck driver managed to get down quickly, and several parts of the truck were burnt.
Locals rescued the helper and rushed him to hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of locals.

Passenger suffers burn injuries as bus set on fire in Dhaka’s Khilgaon
A passenger suffered burn injuries after miscreants set a bus on fire at Meradia area of Dhaka’s Khilgaon.
The injured was identified as Md Sabuj, 30, a resident of Merul Badda. He was admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with critical burn injuries.
The arson attack took place around 7:30am at Bashpattali area of Meradia this morning (November 05, 2023).
Sabuj’s wife Rushda said that her husband is a transport worker. He is a driver of a ‘Ramjan Paribahan’ bus. His bus was parked on the side of the road in Meradia area.

He left home in the morning to go to work and boarded a bus of ‘Acchim Paribahan’. When he was about to get off the bus in Meradia area, it was set on fire, his wife said.
Later, Sabuj was taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with serious burn injuries.
Tariqul Islam, a resident doctor at the burn institute, said Sabuj suffered 28 percent burn injuries and his respiratory tract were damaged.
Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the incident.
Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, said the fire was doused by locals before fire service units reached the spot.

N’ganj warehouse blast leaves one dead, 9 wounded
A 40-year old man was killed and 9 people were injured in an explosion that triggered a fire at a warehouse in Narayanganj’s Nitaiganj Saturday morning.
Awlad Hossain succumbed to his injuries at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital, Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Sadar police station, confirmed.
The rest burned injured are undergoing treatment there, he said.
Shahjahan Shikdar, deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire broke out in the two-story building around 9 am following an explosion.
A portion of the building collapsed after the explosion, he said.
On information, six firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around one and an half hours after the incident.
However, what caused the explosion and the subsequent fire could not be known immediately, he said.

Fakhruddin, an assistant deputy director of Narayanganj fire service, said the building was declared risky as it may collapse any time.
Abdul Kadir, president of Nitaiganj Multilateral Cooperative Society, said former president of the district’s flour mills owners’ association Illias Dewan is the owner of the building which was used as warehouse of pulse, rice, salt and other products.
The first floor of around 100-year-old building was declared abandoned around 10 years back, he said.
Golam Mostafa Russell, superintendent of police in the district, said onlookers were removed from the spot after the building was declared risky.

Armanitola building fire: One more victim dies
The death toll from the massive fire that broke out at a building in Armanitola area of Old Dhaka in the early hours of Friday, climbed to five as another victim succumbed to burn injuries on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shafayet, 28.
Dr Partha Shankar Paal, resident medical officer of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn And Plastic Surgery, said Shafayet, who has been kept on life support, breathed his last around 8:30 am.
Four victims are now undergoing at the ICU of the hospital while the others are being treated at Post Operative Ward, he said.

Earlier, four people were killed and 35 others sustained burn injuries after a massive fire broke out at the six-storey building in the Armanitola area of Old Dhaka early Friday.
Officials said the fire broke out at Hazi Musa Mansion in Armanitola and soon spread to other portions of the building. And it took 19 fire tenders nearly three hours to douse the flames.
Initially, two bodies were recovered by the firefighters but later two more were pulled out from a small room near the stairs of the building, officials said.
