Biman flight's tyre bursts during takeoff in Kolkata, lands safely in Dhaka
A tyre of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ flight bursted during takeoff from India's Kolkata this morning.
The Biman flight, BG-392, had 72 passengers on board when the incident happened at 9:19 am (local time).
The plane landed safely in Dhaka at 10:03 am without any incident, Group Captain Kamrul Islam, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said.

158 passengers stranded on powerless Biman flight at Kolkata airport
As many as 158 passengers who boarded a Dhaka-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Kolkata on Monday night, had a traumatic experience for nearly four hours with no air-conditioning and inadequate food supplies.
The flight was scheduled to take off for Dhaka from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata around 9.05 pm on Monday and the passengers got on the aircraft some 45 minutes ahead of the scheduled departure.
However, the flight could not take off due to a problem with the landing gear, Tahera Khandaker, general manager for public relations at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, told UNB on Tuesday.

"As per Biman's safety regulations, power has to be cut off while fixing any technical problem. That was why the air-conditioning system of the aircraft had to be switched off and several passengers on board felt uneasiness," she said.
"Besides, the passengers were not allowed to exit the aircraft as per Kolkata airport rules," Tahera explained.
It took engineers around three hours to fix the technical glitch, following which the flight took off and reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 1.42 am (local time) on Tuesday, said the official.

Canadian expats marry onboard Biman flight
An exceptional and uncommon marriage ceremony was held on a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Dhaka to Sylhet - nevertheless maintaining all procedures on Sunday (May 29).
This was the first marriage ceremony to take place onboard a flight in Bangladesh. National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has cooperated with the event.

The bride and bridegroom are Khairul Hasan and Saudia Binte Sanjida, two Bangladeshi expatriates in Canada.
A total of 16 members from both families were present at the marriage ceremony.
Confirming the matter on Monday, Tahera Khandaker, public relations officer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, said details of the marriage ceremony will be disclosed later to the media.
According to family sources, Khairul and Saudia are travel enthusiasts who planned to marry during a flight in the skies of Bangladesh - in a sense to symbolise their passion for travel.
As planned, they, along with their invited family members boarded the regular Biman flight BG-603 from Dhaka to Sylhet at 3:30pm on Sunday. On the way to Sylhet, the marriage ceremony was completed, maintaining all rituals.

The groom, Khairul Hasan, said: “We have decided to keep the day memorable. We miss road travel in Bangladesh a lot. We have taken permission from the Biman Bangladesh Airlines authority one month ago for holding the marriage ceremony.”
Kazi (Marriage registrar) Omar Farooq administered the marriage ceremony while all passengers of the flight prayed for the newly-wed couple and congratulated them.
