Mild heatwave sweeps Bangladesh
A mild heatwave is sweeping parts of the country with sporadic rains doing little to ease the mercury levels, the Met office said on Thursday.
“Mild heatwave is sweeping through the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Khulna, Satkhira, Jashore, Chuadanga, Cumilla and Bhola, and it may abate from some places,” the weather department said in its bulletin.
Besides, Light to moderate rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over northern part of the country," it added.
Rainfall activity may continue.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, as per the bulletin.
The weather office recorded the highest rainfall of 173mm in Tetulia of Rangpur division in 24 hours till 6am on Thursday.
The highest temperature was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius in Tarash of Rajshahi division, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 22.8 degrees in Rajarhat of Rangpur division.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
One of its associated troughs extends up to the Northwest Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate elsewhere over North Bay, reads the bulletin.

The weather department has predicted showers in parts of Bangladesh in next 24 hours commencing 9am on Monday as Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” the department said in its bulletin Monday morning.
Day temperature may rise slightly over western part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.

The weather office recorded the highest rainfall at 81mm in Patuakhali of Barishal division in 24 hours till 6am on Monday.
The highest temperature was recorded at 33 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 24 degree Celcius in Sitakunda.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
One of its associated troughs extends upto Northwest Bay, as per the bulletin.
Brace for early monsoon showers
Early monsoon showers are likely to drench parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the weather department has said.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rajshahi and Barishal divisions and at one or two places over Khulna division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” the Met office said in its bulletin.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The maximum rainfall was recorded in Cox’s Bazar district at 42 mm, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.7 degrees in Rajshahi district in the last 24 hours till 9am, as per the bulletin.
The trough of westerly low lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas. Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chattogram division. And conditions are favorable for its further advancement, it added.

Meanwhile, the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazaar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as a deep convection is continuing over the North Bay.
"All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and the deep sea have been advised to come closer to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice," it added.
Deep convection refers to the thermally driven turbulent mixing that moves air parcels from the lower to the upper atmosphere.

Expect a brief reprieve from the sweltering summer heat, as the weather department has predicted rain or thunder showers in parts of Bangladesh in the next 24 hours.
“Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at many places over Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country" the Bangladesh Meteorology Department said in a weather bulletin on Monday.

The maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 9 am was recorded at 89 mm in Chandpur of Chattogram division.
Meanwhile, the trough of low extended from Bihar to North Bay across West Bengal and sourthern part of Bangladesh persists.

Drink plenty of water before stepping out in the scorching heat, as a mild heatwave is sweeping through the districts of Rajshahi, Madaripur, Chandpur and Bagerhat.
The heatwave spell may spread further, the Met office said in its bulletin on Friday.

"Besides, rain or thunder showers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country," it added.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area has formed over the Gulf of Martaban and adjoining Myanmar and now lies over the same area as a well-marked low.

Pre-monsoon showers to drench Bangladesh
Brace for pre-monsoon showers in the next 24 hours.
“Thunder showers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its weather bulletin on Tuesday.

The thunder showers are also likely to occur "at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions", according to the bulletin.
BMD also said that moderately heavy to heavy falls are likely to occur at places over the northern part of the country.
Meanwhile, a mild heat wave sweeping over the districts of Chandpur, Rajshahi, Jashore and Khulna may continue, as per the weather forecast.

The day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The maximum rainfall was recorded at 82mm in Dimla upazila of Rangpur.
Rains to drench eight Bangladesh divisions
Expect some reprieve from the summer heat, as the weatherman has predicted showers in the eight divisions of Bangladesh in the next 24 hours.

Rains or thunder showers are likely to drench six divisions of Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, the weather office said on Thursday morning.
According to a Met office bulletin, “Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions.”
