45th National Athletics: Imranur, Sumaiya emerge as fastest man, woman
Imranur Rahman of Bangladesh Army emerged as the new fasted man of Bangladesh by clinching men’s 100-meter sprint title with new national record in the Sheikh Kamal 45th National Athletics Championship’ 2021 that began on Monday at Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani here.
Bangladesh Athletics Federation has organized the national meet marking the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu and the Silver Jubilee of the country’s Independence,
State Minister for Social Welfare Ministry M Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru inaugurated the three-day meet Monday afternoon.

Imranur, a 28-year-old dual citizen of the UK and Bangladesh, clinched the men’s 100-meter gold with a time of 10.50 seconds breaking late Mahbub Alam’s 22-year old event record of 10.54 seconds set in 1999.
Sumaiya Dewan of BKSP emerged as the new fastest woman of the country by clinching women’s 100-meter sprint title clocking 12;30 seconds.
They dethroned Mohammad Ismail and Shirin Akhter, both of whom finished second to bag silver in their respective event this time.

Asian Archery: Hakim ranks 8th, Ruman 9th in recurve singles qualifications
Two Bangladeshi leading archers -- Mohammad Hakim Ahmed Rubel -- ranked 8th scoring 666 while and Mohammad Ruman Shana 9th making 665 in the recurve men’s singles qualification rounds of the Teer 22nd Asian Archery Championship’ 2021 at the Bangladesh Army Stadium, Banani on Sunday.
Two other Bangladeshi archers -- Ram Krishna Saha and Abdur Rahman -- were placed 10th and 15th scoring 665 scoring 649 respectively.

Thirty-nine archers from 15 countries participated in the event with Lee Seungyun of Korea clinching the top slot scoring 680.
In the recurve women’s singles qualifications, Diya Siddiqui of Bangladesh ranked 12th scoring 637 improving her individual Olympics record of 635.
Nasrin Akter of Bangladesh finished 15th scoring 529 while Beauty Roy ranked 23rd scoring 621. Twenty-six archers from nine countries took part in the event with Ryoo Su Jung of Korea earning the top slot scoring 687. Bangladesh team ranked 4th in the recurve women’s team event scoring 1887 and Bangladesh finished 3rd in the recurve men’s team event making 1996.
In the compound men’s team event, Bangladesh ranked 4th scoring 2097 while Bangladesh ranked 6th in the compound women’s team event making 1987.

Some 187 archers and officials from 16 counties, including 15 archers from hosts Bangladesh, are taking part in 10 events of the week-long meet, sponsored by City Group (Teer).
Ten events are recurve men’s team, recurve women’s team. recurve men’s singles, recurve women’s singles, recurve mixed team, compound men’s team, compound women;s team, compound men’s singles, compound women’s singles and compound mixed team.
