7 vehicles fined Tk 22,000 for polluting air in Dhaka’s Khilkhet
A mobile court in a drive on Tuesday fined seven vehicles Tk 22,000 for polluting air in Dhaka’s Khilkhet area.
The mobile court, led by executive magistrate Asma Shaheen of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Ministry conducted the drive and found seven vehicles responsible for polluting air through emitting black smoke.
Later, the mobile court fined the vehicles.
The Monitoring and Enforcement Wing of Department of Environment (DoE) conducted the mobile court drive in Khilkhet area as part of drive against environment pollution and it will continue in Dhaka and its adjacent areas.

Different roads in Dhaka went under water due to heavy rains triggered by Cyclone Sitrang, causing traffic gridlock that left no options for commuters but to suffer terribly.

As Sitrang hit the country’s coastal areas on Monday (October 24, 2022) night, nearly all parts of Bangladesh including the capital experienced heavy rains and storm that uprooted trees or killed people and disconnected power transmission lines.

City Corporation workers were seen removing uprooted trees from Dhaka roads in the morning.
Office-goers and others remained stuck on roads for hours in the morning as traffic movement was slow due to waterlogging.
Physician found dead in Dhaka
Police have recovered the body of a young physician from his flat at Nikunjo in the city’s Khilkhet area.
The deceased was identified as Dr Joydeb Chandra Das, 25, son of Dilip Chandra Das of South Salanda Kumarpara under Parbotipur thana in Dinajpur.
Police said they recovered the body from his flat on the 8th floor of a building on Saturday night.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Khilkhet Police Station SI Russel Pervez said the CID crime scene unit collected evidences from the spot.
Police suspected that Dr Joydeb has committed suicide.
