Pilot dies as Air Force training fighter jet crashes in Ctg
A pilot died and another was injured after a training fighter jet of Bangladesh Air Force crashed into the Karnaphuli river in Chattogram on Thursday (May 09, 2024) morning.
The pilot, Asim Jawad, passed away around 12:30 pm while undergoing treatment at BNS Issa Khan Hospital in Patenga, said Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Port Divison Deputy Commissioner Shakila Sultana.
The injured pilot is Wing Commander Sohan.
Air Force training fighter jet crashes in Ctg; 2 pilots rescued
The two pilots managed to eject from the aircraft through parachutes. They were rescued and taken to hospital.
The BAF aircraft of Zahurul Haq Base crashed near the Boat Club.
“A YAK 130 training fighter of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed at Patenga in Chattogram due to mechanical failure. Two pilots of the plane were rescued,” reads a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Divers and fire fighters are working to retrieve the aircraft.

BAF aircraft leaves Dhaka to bring 5 lakh doses of Corona vaccine from China
Thirteen aircrew of Bangladesh Air Force left Dhaka for China on Tuesday (May 11, 2021) morning by BAF C-130J aircraft to bring 500,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine and AD syringes.

Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat has provided necessary guidance to carry out this goodwill mission.
In compliance with the policies published by the government, the Armed Forces is conducting various activities under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to contain the spread of coronavirus.

In line with this, the goodwill mission is being conducted to bring vaccine and AD syringes provided by China as a sign of its friendly relations with Bangladesh, according to a media release of the Inter Service Public Relation Directorate issued Tuesday evening.
The BAF aircraft is expected to return home on Wednesday.

BAF aircraft leaves for Maldives with essential items, 11 physicians
A C-130B transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force left Dhaka for Maldives on Saturday with daily essentials as souvenir and 11 Bangladeshi doctors who could not join their workplace in Maldives due to coronavirus situation.
The mission consisting of 19 BAF Air crew was led by Air Commodore M A Awal Hossain of the BAF.
Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat provided necessary directives to carry out the mission, said Director of ISPR directorate Lt Col Abdullah Ibne Jayed.
Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal M Abul was also present on the occasion.
