The government has started procurement of paddy directly from farmers at Tk 26 per kg.

The government will procure some 11.5 lakh metric tonnes of rice (boiled and non-boiled) and eight lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the current Boro season.

Suggesting consumers not to be panicked, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Mazumder on Wednesday said there will be no food crisis for coronavirus as the government reserve is sufficient.
