Bangladesh, Rwanda sign air connectivity agreement
Bangladesh and Rwanda have signed an air services agreement to enhance connectivity, trade and people-to-people ties.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to New Delhi Mustafizur Rahman and Rwanda High Commissioner to Bangladesh with residence in New Delhi Jacqueline Mukangira inked the deal in the Indian capital Thursday.
The agreement will facilitate the movement of people and goods between Bangladesh and Rwanda using the air route.

The air connectivity agreement is also expected to contribute largely to the economic growth between Bangladesh and Rwanda.
Bangladesh has taken initiatives to forge cooperation with Rwanda in different sectors, including agriculture, food processing; promotion and protection of investments, foreign office consultations and cooperation between the foreign service academies of the two countries. Both sides are having discussions to sign agreements in these areas.

Initiatives have also been taken to organise a bilateral visit from Bangladesh to Rwanda and hold bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries.

Momen leads Bangladesh to Commonwealth Heads of Government in Rwanda
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has joined the Commonwealth ministers meeting on Small States, reassuring Bangladesh’s support in seeking the concrete actions by the international community to build resilience for the climate-vulnerable nations.
The foreign minister reached Kigali, Rwanda on Wednesday to attend the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), leading an eight-member delegation.
He was received by the Bangladesh envoys to London and Nairobi and the high officials from the Rwandan government.
This year, CHOGM is taking place from 24-25 June under the theme “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming” with the attendance of more than thirty heads of government.

In the afternoon, the FM had bilateral meetings with his counterpart, the Foreign Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica Dr. Kenneth M Darroux and the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Prof. G.L Peiris where the entire gamut of bilateral and multilateral issues was discussed.

DCCI urges Rwanda to import more Bangladeshi products
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) on Sunday urged African country Rwanda to enhance import of Bangladeshi products. Arman Haque, Senior Vice President of DCCI, requested Rwanda’s importers to import steel, cement, eco-friendly brick, PVC pipe, electrical cable and skilled construction workers from Bangladesh.
He made the request in a meeting of DCCI with High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda based in New Delhi Mukangira Jacqueline at DCCI Gulshan Center on Sunday.

Bangladeshi investors have a good prospect in the growing infrastructure sector of Africa’s one of the promising countries, Rwanda, Arman said. Arman assured the High Commissioner that the Dhaka Chamber will extend its fullest cooperation in facilitating any business delegation from Rwanda. In response, High Commissioner of Rwanda Mukangira Jacqueline said that the existing trade relations with Bangladesh is very good and it will continue in future as well.

She mentioned that in Rwanda an entrepreneur can avail company registration in less than 6 hours. She invited Bangladeshi investors to invest in Rwanda with a view to capture large African market. Mukangira stressed stronger collaboration between the businessmen of both the countries.

DCCI Vice President Monowar Hossain and Second Counsellor of the High Commission of Rwanda Irakoze Prosper were also present during the meeting.
