Rail communication with Khulna restored after 10hrs
Rail operation between Khulna and the rest of the country resumed around 10 hours after derailment of a Khulna-bound freight train near Ansarbaria station in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district early Wednesday .
Uthli railway station master Mintu Roy said the train services resumed around 11am after the derailed oil tankers were removed from the track.
He said the authorities cancelled the trips of Dhaka-bound three trains from Khulna and other districts due to schedule collapse, leaving passengers waiting at the stations in trouble.
Moreover, hundreds of train passengers remained stranded for around 10 hours, the station master said.
On other hand, a four member body led by Anowar Hossain, Pakshi divisional transport official of the Bangladesh Railway, was formed to probe the incident.
Earlier around 1am on Wednesday, eight empty oil tankers of the freight train derailed near Ansarbaria station, snapping rail communication.
The train carrying 32 empty tankers was heading to Khulna from Dhaka.

Dhaka’s rail link with other parts of country restored after about 5 hrs
Rail communication between Dhaka and other parts of the country resumed on Sunday afternoon after nearly five hours of suspension due to blockade on rail tracks by a section of temporary workers of the Bangladesh Railway.
Earlier, in the day, the temporary workers of Bangladesh Railway obstructed the rail track in the capital’s Malibagh area, demanding that their jobs be made permanent, halting train communication between Dhaka and the rest of the country, said Ferdous Ahmed Biswas, officer-in-charge of Kamalapur Railway Police Station.

The workers started demonstrations on the rail track since 10 am.
Meanwhile, the blockade was withdrawn after four and half an hours around 2:30 pm, said Ferdous Ahmed Bishwas, Officer-in-Charge of Kamalapur Railway Police Station.

Contacted, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan told UNB that there is no possibility of making their jobs permanent as they work on the basis of daily wage.
Terming the workers’ demand “illogical,” the minister said he would recommend recruiting the workers once recruitment is done through outsourcing.

Kalurghat Bridge closed for 3 months for renovation
Rail and road communication via Kalurghat Bridge, the century-old bridge over the Karnaphuli River, have been suspended for three months to get some much-needed renovation work done.
The authorities concerned of Bangladesh Railway said the movements of vehicles and trains through the bridge were suspended from Wednesday. After that the railway authorities will inaugurate it with the movement of the Cox’s Bazar-bound train, said Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Railway (East) Abu Zafar Mia.

Rail communication on the Chattogram-Dohazari route will also remain suspended until the reopening of the Kalurghat bridge, said Abu Zafar.
Already the authorities concerned of the Roads and Highways Division have launched a ferry service under the bridge to ensure smooth crossing of vehicles. Two ferries will operate under the bridge while one will remain on standby.
Bangladesh Railway appointed a contractor for the renovation work of the bridge, involving Tk 55 crore.

The authorities concerned also fixed the tolls for ferrying vehicles: Tk 5 for ferrying rickshaw, van, bicycle and cart, Tk 10 for motorbike, Tk 25 for three-wheeler vehicles, Tk 55 for private cars, Tk 90 for microbus and pickup, Tk 115 for minibus, Tk 135 for vehicles used in agriculture sector, Tk 170 for small truck, Tk 205 for bus, Tk 225 for truck, Tk 450 for heavy truck and Tk 565 for trailer.
The bridge was the only means for ten lakh people in Boalkhali upazila to get to Patiya east zone, Rangunia south zone, Chandgaon and Mohora area of the city.

Rail communications of Khulna with other parts of the country restored
Rail communications of Khulna with other parts of the country has been suspended following the derailment of a bogie of an oil tanker train in Doulatpur upazila of Khulna district Monday afternoon.
Shafiqul Islam, in-charge of Doulatpur Rail Police camp, said the bogie veered off the tracks around 2:30 pm while the oil tanker train returning to Khulna from Santahar after unloading oil in front of Doulatpur BGB headquarters.

Workers' blockade snaps Dhaka's rail link with country's other parts for an hr
Rail communications between Dhaka and other parts of the country remained snapped for an hour on Monday as a section of railway workers blocked the rail tracks at Tongi railway junction demanding reinstatement of their jobs.
The blocked the rail tracks at 11:00am and lasted till 12:00pm. No trains left or arrived in Dhaka during this period.
The railway authorities sacked at least 8,000 temporary workers on June 30 and decided to outsource the job.

Hundreds of railway workers gathered at the Tongi railway junction protesting the decision and demanded that the authorities return their jobs.
The workers withdrew their blockade after getting assurance from the railway authorities that their jobs will be returned within 5:00pm today.

The workers have warned that they will go on tougher movement if they don’t get their jobs back within the stipulated time.

Rail communication with Sylhet snapped amid flood
Rail communication beween Sylhet and other parts of the country was completely snapped Saturday afternoon amid worsening flood situation..
Sylhet railway authorities made the announcement of suspending train services around 1:30 pm.
“As floodwater entered the railway station rail communication has been suspended,” said Nurul Islam, manager of Sylhet Railway Station.

However keeping trains operational till Maijgaon station in Fenchuganj upazila is under discussion but no decisions have been made yet, he said.

Rail communication resumes between Dhaka and Mymensingh
Rail communication has resumed between Dhaka and Mymensingh after three hours of suspension in Gazipur.
Eyewitnesses said a few steel "angle irons" fell on three rail tracks from a speedy truck at Sripur-Gosinga road level crossing around 8pm on Monday.
Fortunately, no casualty was reported in the incident.

Derailment: Rail communication between Khulna and rest of the country suspended
Rail communication between Khulna and the rest of the country remains suspended since Sunday night following the derailment of five train bogies at Uthli in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district.
The bogies of an oil laden train KN-17 derailed when it entered the main line from the loop line of Uthli railway station at around 1.15 am on Sunday.

Ali Ahmed, the station master on duty at Uthli railway station, confirmed the information to UNB.
Although no serious injuries were reported following the incident, rail communication between Khulna and other parts of the country remained suspended ever since resulting in immense suffering for passengers who are waiting for hours at different stations of the division.

A rescue train arrived on Monday 8 am to clear the line by removing the bogies, however people related to the operation have informed UNB that it might take a long time.

Derailment: Dhaka-Chattogram rail link resumes after 7 hrs
Rail communication between Dhaka and Chattogram, which remained suspended for seven hours following the derailment of a train bogie on a level crossing near Paduar Bazar Biswa Road rail overpass in Cumilla, was restored on Sunday morning.
Ismail Hossain Siraji, in-charge of Cumilla Railway Police camp, said a bogie of the Chattogram-bound train veered off the tracks around 2 am after collision with a mini truck while it was passing the level crossing, disrupting the rail communication on the route.
However, no causality was reported.
The rail communication resumed around 9:20 am with the movement of Chattogram-bound Bijoy Express.
Liakat Ali Majumdar, assistant engineer of Cumilla Railway Division, said the rest of the bogies were sent to Cumilla Railway Station and Laksham Junction.

Meanwhile, the railway authorities have formed a 4-member body, headed by Snehashish Das Gupta, Transport officer of Chattogram East Railway Division, to probe the incident.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within Sunday(today).

Train derailed in Gazipur, disrupts rail communication
A Dhaka-bound train derailed near Dhirashram railway station in Gazipur on Thursday cutting off the capital city’s rail communication with the country’s northern region.
Dhirashram Railway Station Master Helal Uddin said the engine of the Computer Express train from Jamalpur derailed just before entering Dhirashram station at around 11:30 am. Train services between Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Rajshahi-Khulna have been disrupted.

Three other trains, Chapai Express, Agniveena Express and Ekota Express, were stranded at different stations on both sides of the spot.
He also said the train communication will resume after the derailed engine is pulled back to tracks by a rescue train from Dhaka.
