Gazipur garment warehouse fire under control
A fire that broke out at a garment warehouse in Gazipur on Saturday afternoon was brought under control after more than three hours of frantic efforts.
The fire originated around 2:45pm at a warehouse of Matrix Styles Limited, said Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Saidul Islam Chowdhury.
Nine firefighting units from Bhogra, Joydebpur and surrounding stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 6pm, he said.
Firefighters also rescued around 70 people who were trapped on the roof of the seven-story building using a Turntable Ladder (TTL).
Although panic spread among the trapped workers and others on the roof, no casualties were reported.
Saidul Islam Chowdhury said the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the financial damage could only be determined following a thorough investigation.

Garment factory catches fire in Gazipur
The fire that broke out at a readymade garment factory on Wednesday morning at Chandona Chowrasta in Gazipur has been doused completely, officials said.
The fire started around 7.40 am on the 4th floor of a 7-story building of Apparels Plus Limited and soon engulfed the floor.

"After four hours effort, four firefighting units managed to douse the flames completely," said Shahjahan Shikder, deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
However, the reason behind the fire and extent of losses could not be known immediately.
No casualties were reported, he added.

Fire at Gazipur garment factory
A readymade garment (RMG) factory at Jarun in the city caught fire on Wednesday.
Fire service sources said the fire erupted at the semi-pacca building which houses ‘Islam Garments’ around 7:30 am.
