Coronavirus in Bangladesh: confirmed cases exceed 60,000, over 800 dead
The health authorities of the country confirmed the detection of another 2,828 new coronavirus patients across the country in the last 24 hours on Friday, taking the number of confirmed cases in the country to 60,391.

Coronavirus: Global death toll reaches 389,645
The Covid-19 pandemic has claimed over 389,645 lives globally while the number confirmed coronavirus cases has gone up to 6,601,349 as of Friday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of the Johns Hopkins University.
According to JHU data, Brazil has 584,016 confirmed coronavirus cases, the second highest in the world after the USA. The South American country lost 32,548 lives to Covid-19 till date.
The US has the highest number of confirmed cases and deaths. It recorded 108,208 deaths and 1,872,557 cases so far. In the US, New York State alone counted 30,174 deaths till date.

Trader dies from Covid-19 in Naogaon
A trader of Kaporpotti area in Sadar upazila town in Naogaon district died from Covird-19 on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam Nuru, 58, of the area.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdulah Al Mamun said cloth trader Nuru breathed his last at around 11:30pm.
Nuru was first diagnosed with coronavirus on May 30 and he way staying in home quarantine, the UNO said.
A total of 132 people have been infected with coronavirus while two people have so far died in the district.
Bangladesh has so far reported 49,534 coronavirus cases and 672 deaths. Among the total infection, 9,781 people have so far recovered.
Bangladesh announced general holiday from March 26 to May 30. Public transport movement and government and privates offices resumed on May 31 as the government decided not to extend holidays anymore.
However, the educational institutions will remain closed until June 15.

Coronavirus in Bangladesh: Record 40 deaths, 2,545 new cases reported in a day
Bangladesh saw its biggest daily jump in the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths on Sunday as record 40 patients died and 2, 545 got infected in the span of 24 hours .
“The death toll stood at 650 as Bangladesh has recorded 40 deaths in the last 24 hours and it is the highest ever deaths in the country,” said Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana at its daily health bulletin.
In the meantime, the health authorities confirmed detection of record 2,545 new cases, taking the number of confirmed cases in the country to 47,153.
In the last 24 hours, 52 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 11,876 samples, she added.
Bangladesh broke the previous record of highest death count in a day within 24 hours as on Saturday the country saw the death of 28 patients. Previous highest number of detection in a day was 2,523 which was recorded on Friday.
The detection rate of new cases on Sunday has been recorded at 21.43 percent.

Coronavirus: Bangladesh sees record 28 deaths in a day, 1,764 new cases
Bangladesh on Saturday recorded the highest number of deaths due to COVID-1 as 28 more patients died in the last 24 hours, raising the death tally to 610.
The country also saw further rise in coronavirus cases with the detection of 1,764 new cases during the same period, taking the total number of cases to 44,608.
Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.
Across the country 360 more patients made recovery, she said adding that so far 9,375 people have recovered from the disease.

Coronavirus: Global death toll reaches 359,791
The number of global coronavirus deaths reached 359,791 on Friday morning while the confirmed cases were 5,803,416 , according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
In the US, the death toll is 101,573 while its confirmed cases stood at1, 720,613.
The first US infection was reported in Washington State on 21 January.
According to JHU data, Brazil has come up to the second position after US with 438, 238 confirmed coronavirus cases where the death toll climbed to 26,754..
The UK has the second-highest death toll at 37,919, followed by Italy with 33,142, France 28,665 and Spain 27, 119, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
Bangladesh on Thursday saw the highest-ever jump in coronavirus cases in a single day as the health authorities confirmed the detection of record 2,029 new patients in the last 24 hours, raising the total cases to 40,321.
During the period, 15 more people died from the fast spreading disease, taking the death tally to 559.
