United launch affordable cardiac surgery package on its 16th anniversary
United Group on Wednesday celebrated its 16th anniversary.
To hold up the promise to ensure affordable world-class healthcare, it launched a new cardiac surgery package at Tk 250,000 on the occasion.
Bangladesh's renowned cardiac surgeon and director of United Cardiac Center Dr. Jahangir Kabir inaugurated the package in a programme organized in the presence of senior doctors, nurses, directors and other senior officials.
On the occasion, Chairman and Managing Director of United Group Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Rashid and CEO of United Healthcare Services Limited and Managing Director of United Hospital Limited Mohammad Faizur Rahman, CFO of United Group Mr. Mostak Ahmmed, CHRO of United Group Md. Nawshad Pervez and board members were present.

Dr Jahangir Kabir, who has already performed more than 25 thousand successful heart surgeries said that the expert cardiac surgeons of his team will perform the surgery under this package.
He was the first surgeon in Bangladesh to implant a mechanical heart in the heart of a 42-year-old woman.
Chairman and Managing Director of United Group, Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, said that United Healthcare started its journey back in 2006, with the goal of providing world class healthcare and has successfully proven that over time.
“We wanted to create a chain healthcare brand in Bangladesh. As a result, we have new brands like MA Rashid Hospital in Jamalpur, Medix in Dhanmondi and United Medical College and Hospital in Satarkul” he said.

United Hospital observes World Hepatitis Day
United Hospital Thursday observed World Hepatitis Day 2022.
With the theme "Hepatitis, Can't Wait," the day aimed to highlight the need to accelerate the fight against viral hepatitis and the importance of testing and treatment for the people who need it.
United Hospital conducted free health check-ups in a booth in the hospital lobby. More than 500 patients and their family members availed free check-ups throughout the day, according to a media statement.
Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, director of medical services of United Healthcare Services, inaugurated the booth.

Interventional gastroenterologist and hepatologist Dr AQM Mohsen, also director of United Gastroliver Centre, and Dr Mohammed Mahbub Alam, senior consultant at gastroenterology and hepatology department, were present.
Also, United Hospital is conducting a week-long social awareness programme on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day.
Gastroenterologists and hepatologists of the hospital will attend seminars, free health check-up camps, and hepatitis awareness activities at various clubs, and corporate houses.

United Hospital surgeon team awarded for success in mechanical heart implant
The United Group on Sunday awarded the team consisting leading heart surgeons who performed the country’s first Mechanical Heart Implant on a 42-year-old woman successfully at the United Hospital.
The beneficiary patient and her husband also came to share their experience after the country’s first Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) surgery at an event titled, Mechanical Heart Implant success & future planning’ arranged at the United Group Head office in the city.
During the event, an update regarding the post-surgical conditions of the patient and the lifestyle practice was presented by Dr Rafiur Rahman and Dr Arif Mohiuddin.
This team of leading heart surgeons in Bangladesh has performed successful heart surgeries on more than 15,000 people with more than 98 per cent success rate since the inception of United Hospital bringing smiles on the faces of patients and their families.

On March 2, Dr Jahangir Kabir, Chief Cardiac Surgeon and Director of the Cardiac Centre at United Hospital along with his skilled colleagues successfully implanted a mechanical heart pump or LVAD in the heart of the patient.
She was suffering from various heart complications for a long time known as chronic heart failure and even after she received treatment at home and abroad, her heart was becoming almost ineffective.
The patient and her family members expressed their gratitude towards Dr Jahangir Kabir, his team, and overall United Hospital Cardiac Care Center for the exceptional management.
To appreciate the milestone, Prominent Medicine specialist, the personal physician of honorable Prime Minister, Professor Emeritus Dr. ABM Abdullah and director (hospitals and clinics) of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Farid Hossain Miah were present.

Ex-IGP AYBI Siddiqui passes away
Former IGP of Bangladesh Police and ex-secretary AYBI Siddiqui died of cancer at United Hospital in Dhaka on Saturday night.
Md Sohel Rana, AIG (Media and Public Relations) of Bangladesh Police, said, AYBI Siddiqui breathed his last around 1:03 am at the hospital.

Siddiqui joined the police service in 1970 as an ASP. He served as IGP from September 27, 1998 to June 7, 2000.
He is survived by wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers.

Covid-19: Cumilla doctor dies
An associate professor of paediatrics department at the central medical college who was infected with coronavirus, died on Saturday.
The deceased doctor, Dr Mujibur Rahman Ripon, was undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital, said Dr Safikur Rahman, Principal of Cumilla Central Medical College.
He was a graduate of the fifth batch of Faridpur Medical College.
He left behind his wife, who is also a doctor, and two sons.
Meanwhile, the health authorities on Saturday announced 3,240 new coronavirus cases across the country in the span of 24 hours, taking the total number to 108,775.
The death toll from the various rose to 1,425 as another 37 infected people lost their lives during the period.

Sahara Khatun’s health condition worsens, taken to ICU
Former Home Minister and Awami League presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of United Hospital following deterioration of her condition.
Advocate Anisur Rahman, personal secretary to the ex-minister, confirmed UNB on Friday.
Sahara Khatun was admitted to the hospital on June 2 with fever and some old age complications. She was shifted to the ICU of the hospital as her health condition worsened, Anisur said.
