Global Covid-19 cases now over 683 million
The total number of recorded Covid-19 cases around the world has now surpassed 683 million.
According to the latest global data, the total Covid-19 case count is 683,393,282, while the death toll reached 6,827,486 this morning.
The US has reported 106,109,844 Covid-19 cases so far, while 1,153,816 people have died from the virus in the country — both highest counts globally.
India logged 1,890 new coronavirus cases, the highest in 149 days, while the active cases increased to 9,433, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The country recorded 2,208 cases in a single day on October 28 last year.
The death count has increased to 530,831 with seven deaths.
According to the ministry data, the Covid-19 case tally was recorded at 44,704,147.
Meanwhile, France and Germany have registered 39,758,771 and 38,338,298 Covid-19 cases so far, occupying the third and fourth positions in the world number-wise, and 165,534 and 170,493 people have died in the European countries, as per Worldometer.

Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh reported seven more Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours till Monday (March 27, 2023) morning.
With the new numbers, the country's total caseload rose to 2,038,008, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
However, the official death toll from Covid-19 remained unchanged at 29,445 as no new fatalities were reported in Bangladesh.

Global Covid-19 cases now close to 680 million
The total number of Covid-19 cases in the world is now approaching 680 million.
According to the latest global data, the total Covid-19 case count amounted to 679,820,161 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,799,203 this morning.
The US has reported 105,266,332 Covid-19 cases so far, while 1,145,415 people have died from the virus in the country — both highest counts globally.
India logged 218 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases rose to 2,149, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday. The death toll stands at 5,30,769 with five new deaths reported. The virus case tally was recorded at 4.46 crore (4,46,86,017), while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.80 per cent, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, France has registered 39,616,580 Covid-19 cases so far, occupying the third position in the world number-wise, and 164,929 people have died in the country, as per Worldometer.
Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh

With the new numbers, the country's total caseload rose to 2,037,818, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
However, the official death toll from the disease remained unchanged at 29,445 as no new fatalities were reported.
The daily Covid-19 test positivity rate increased to 0.44 percent from Sunday’s 0.51 percent as 2,253 samples were tested.

Global Covid-19 cases now over 673 million

According to the latest global data, the total Covid-19 case count mounted to 673,506,825 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,748,110 this morning.
The US has recorded 103,888,296 Covid-19 cases so far, while 1,129,145 people have died from the virus in the North American country, both highest counts around the world.

India reported 94 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths in 24 hours, the union health ministry data on Monday showed. While active cases have declined to 1,934, the South Asian country’s total coronavirus cases have reached 4.47 crore so far. The overall death toll stood at 5,30,735 since the onset of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, China reported nearly 13,000 Covid-related deaths in hospitals between January 13 and 19, after a top health official said the vast majority of the population had already been infected.

The overall number of global Covid-19 cases is gradually nearing 672 million, with the sudden surge of the virus’ Omicron sub-variant in Asia and some other parts of the world.
According to the latest global data, the total Covid-19 case count mounted to 671,889,386 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,733,572 this morning.
The US has recorded 103,614,411 Covid-19 cases so far, while 1,125,895 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.

India recorded 89 new coronavirus infections, the lowest since March 27, 2020, while the active cases declined to 2,035, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The Covid-19 case tally for the country stood at 4.46 crore (4,46,81,233) while the death counts were at 5,30,726.
Meanwhile, France has registered 39,461,387 Covid-19 cases so far, occupying the third position in the world, while 163,562 people have died in the country, as per the Worldometer.

Global Covid cases approach 222 million
The overall number of global Covid cases is fast nearing 222 million, as the world is still struggling to contain the second wave of the pandemic even with mass inoculations underway.
According to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 221,873,412 and the death toll reached 4,585,547 on Wednesday morning.
So far, 5, 527,520,653 vaccine doses have been administered across the globe.
The US, which is the world's worst-hit country in terms of both cases and deaths, has so far logged 40,279,732 cases. Besides, 650,511people have lost their lives in the US to date, as per the JHU data.
Brazil currently has the world's second-highest pandemic death toll after the United States and the third-largest caseload after the United States and India.
The country has recorded 20,914,237 cases with 584,108 fatalities so far, according to the health ministry.

India's Covid-19 tally rose to 33,058,843 on Tuesday, and 31,222 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, as per the federal health ministry's latest data.
Besides, as many as 290 deaths due to the pandemic since Monday morning took the total death toll to 441,042.
Covid situation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh logged 56 Covid-19 deaths and 2,639 cases in 24 hours till Tuesday morning, showing a decline in single-day fatalities and cases as compared to Monday's figures.
The country reported 65 Covid-related deaths and 2,710 cases on Monday.
The daily case positivity rate also fell slightly to 9.69% from Monday's 9.88%, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The fresh numbers pushed the country’s total fatalities to 26,684, while the cases reached 15,19,805, the DGHS said.
The new cases were detected after testing 27,466 samples during the 24-hour period.
The country last saw 54 coronavirus-related deaths on June 18 and the upswing in the fatalities reached its peak on August 5 and 10 when 264 deaths were recorded.
However, the situation was much more catastrophic than June and the latter part of August as the country experienced a surge in Covid-related cases and deaths during that time.
Between May and June this year, there was a 273% rise in monthly caseloads and 162% in fatalities. In July, there was a 150% increase in caseloads and a 170% rise in deaths compared to the previous month, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The government on Tuesday started administering the second doses of Covid-19 vaccine under its mass vaccination campaign, aiming to fight the deadly virus.
Vaccination centres in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country drew huge crowds as vaccine seekers were seen standing close to each other with little or no regard for social distancing rules.
Bangladesh on August 7 kicked off another phase of its mass vaccination drive aimed at inoculating 35 lakh people in six days.

Global Covid cases top 215 million
The global Covid-19 caseload has surpassed 215 million with the world still struggling to contain the pandemic fueled by new variants.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the overall death toll from coronavirus stood at 4,485,336 globally, while the total cases mounted to 215, 386,075 as of Saturday morning.
The US is the worst-hit country, with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 38,702,782 and 636,679, respectively, according to the university data.
About 1,100 people are dying daily of COVID-19 in the United States, the most since mid-March, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
About 85,000 people were hospitalized with the illness nationwide early this week, CDC data shows, the highest total since the post-holiday surge in early February, reports AP.

The surge is largely fueled by highly contagious delta variant among people who are not vaccinated.
Brazil is currently seeing a second wave of COVID-19 outbreaks, with a significant increase in cases since December that has pushed the public healthcare system to the brink of collapse in several regions.
The country confirmed 20, 703,906 cases with 578,326 deaths as of Saturday morning.
India comes second in terms of Covid cases, with 32,603,188, while the country’s death toll soared to 436,861 this morning, according to the Health Ministry.
Situation in Bangladesh
The number of people testing positive for Covid-19 and dying from the virus has continued to fall in Bangladesh, the latest daily figures show.
Bangladesh added 117 new fatalities to its national tally Friday – down from 145 logged a week earlier on August 20.

The average number of Covid-related fatalities confirmed each day has dropped by more than 110 over the last three weeks, 46% of the previous peak.
It recorded 3,525 new cases Friday after testing 27,578 samples, down from 5,993 logged a week earlier on August 20.
The country has been experiencing a surge of Covid-related caseloads and deaths since June 2021.
Since the start of the Covid pandemic, Bangladesh has recorded 14,86,153 infections and 25,846 deaths, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

The government has administered at least 25,258,519 doses of Covid vaccines – enough to have vaccinated around 7.4% of the country's population, assuming every person needs two doses.

WHO reports sharp increase in Covid fatalities
Global Covid-19 cases are on the rise, with 3.8 million new infections confirmed in the week between July 19 and July 25, and a "sharp" rise has been reported in the number of fatalities, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
For the past week, the global cases rose by 8% compared to the previous week, which was largely attributed to substantial increases in the Americas and the Western Pacific Regions, the UN health agency said in its weekly update report.
With over 69,000, the number of Covid-19 deaths reported during the period increased by 21% week-on-week.

Most of the new deaths were reported from the Americas and South-East Asia Regions, said the report.
While previous months saw decreasing Covid-19 cases worldwide, the trend has changed this month and last week saw a 12% increase in the number of cases, while deaths and spread of variants are also on the rise, the WHO said on July 21.
The UN health agency also reported that if the virus continues to spread at this rate, the global number of Covid-19 cases could reach 200 million soon.

Variants are continuing their progression, as the Alpha variant was seen in 180 countries, territories or areas, and 13 new countries, territories or areas reported cases of the Delta variant.
While the Alpha variant is still detected more often than its counterpart, the Delta variant is believed by the WHO to be 50% more transmissible and might become the dominant form of the virus in the next few months.

Global Covid-19 cases near 173 million
With new variants of Covid-19 spreading faster than ever before in several parts of the world, the global corona cases are now approaching 173 million.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total global case count reached 172,859, 512 while the death toll climbed to 3,718,408 on Sunday morning.
The US, the world's worst-hit country in terms of cases and deaths, have recorded 33,057,380 cases with 597,377 fatalities to date, as per the JHU data.
Neighbouring India’s total Covid case count is fast approaching the 29-million mark. The country’s caseload and fatalities stand at 28,694, 879 and 344,082, respectively, as of Sunday morning.
Brazil registered 1,689 more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 472,531, the country’s health ministry said on Saturday.

A total of 66,017 new infections were detected, raising the caseload to 16,907,425, the ministry said.
Brazil has the world's second highest Covid-19 death toll, after the United States, and the third largest caseload, behind the United States and India.
Situation in Bangladesh
As Coronavirus-related deaths and infections keep growing in Bangladesh, the country recorded 43 more deaths in the past 24 hours till Saturday morning.
Besides, 1,447 new cases were registered during the period, taking the country's caseload to 809,314.
With the latest death toll, the total number of fatalities rose to 12,801.

Bangladesh reported its first Covid cases on March 8 last year and the first death on the 18th of that month.
Lockdown in districts
Due to the recent rise in Covid infections in frontier districts, district administrations have imposed lockdowns in Rajshahi, Khulna, Satkhira, Chapainawabganj, Teknaf upazila, five Rohingya camps and parts of Naogaon, Noakhali districts to curb the transmission of the virus.
The district administrations have been given the authority to enforce lockdowns in their areas if the Covid-19 situation worsens.
Vaccination drive
Bangladesh launched its vaccination drive on February 7 with Oxford-AstraZeneca doses bought from India's Serum Institute.

So far, four vaccines – Oxford-AstraZeneca (Covishield), Sputnik-V, Sinopharm, and Pfizer-BioNTech – have got the authorisation for emergency use in the country.
Meanwhile, seven million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine reached Bangladesh, and the governments of India and China gave 3.2 million doses and 500,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine as gifts.
However, the country, the prime recipient of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines, has suspended the registration for Covid-19 jabs due to vaccine shortage amid a delay in the arrival of shipments from India.

Global Covid-19 cases hit 168 million
More than 168 million people have been found infected with the virus as Covid-19 pandemic continues to devastate countries across the world.
The total caseload reached at 168,181,146 as of Thursday morning while the death toll from the virus climbed to 3,494,001, according to the data compiled by Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
So far, 1,737, 293,414 doses of vaccines have been administered across the world.
The US, which remained the world’s worst hit country in both number of cases and deaths, has logged 33,190,016 with 591,947 fatalities.
India has been experiencing a staggering Covid-19 situation as in recent weeks the country has been counting deaths of more than 4,000 people a day.

Amid worries over the reports of black fungus in India, the country has recorded 27, 157, 795 cases while the death toll from the virus mounted to 311,388 till date.
Brazil on Wednesday reported 2,398 more deaths from COVID-19, raising the national count to 454,429, the Ministry of Health said.
A total of 80,486 more infections were detected, raising the nationwide tally to 16,274,695, the ministry said.
Brazil has the world's second highest COVID-19 death toll, after the United States, and the third largest caseload, following the United States and India.
Situation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh logged 17 more Covid-related deaths in 24 hours until Wednesday morning, the lowest number in 68 days.
The country saw 16 Covid-19 deaths on March 18 last.
Besides, 1,497 new cases were recorded taking the total caseload to 7,93,693, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities recorded the new cases after testing 16,434 samples in the last 24 hours.
Vaccination drive
Bangladesh launched its vaccination drive on February 7 with Oxford-AstraZeneca doses purchased from India's Serum Institute.
The administration of the first dose remained suspended since April 26.
Also, the country, the prime recipient of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines, has suspended the registration for Covid-19 jabs due to short supply of doses amid a delay in timely arrival of shipments from India.
However, the administering of the 1st dose of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine against Covid-19 began on Tuesday.
