JaPa to stay away from JS till Quader recognized as opposition leader
Jatiya Party have announced they will stay away from Parliament till the speaker recognises GM Quader as the leader of the opposition instead of Raushan Ershad.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the party’s parliamentary party on Sunday after a discussion with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury where she offered no hint of a positive decision in this regard coming soon, said Khandakar Delwar Jalali, JP press secretary.
Jatiya Party’s parliamentary party has decided GM Quader will be head of their parliamentary delegation and informed the matter to the speaker in writing, he said.

Currently, Raushan Ershad is the opposition leader who has been abroad for a long time for medical treatment with GM Quader as her deputy.
Earlier on September 3, the parliamentary party proposed to make GM Quader the opposition leader of the parliament instead of Raushan but the speaker is yet to take a decision in this regard.
The 20th session of the current parliament that began Sunday will continue till November 6.

Speaker nominates panel chair of 17th JS session
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Monday nominated a five-member panel of chair for the 17th session of the 11th parliament.
The panel members are Shahiduzzaman Sarker, Shamsul Huq Tuku, Jewel Areng, Kazi Firoze Rashid and Sherin Ahmed.

The speaker announced their names at the beginning of the day’s business.
They will conduct the House proceedings in chronological order in the absence of the speaker and the deputy speaker.

President's address to kick off first session of 2022 in JS
President Abdul Hamid on Sunday will address the 16th session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) in the afternoon.
President's press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB that the President is expected to begin his speech at 4pm.
The president has to address the first parliament session of every year, according to Article 73(2) of the Constitution.

The President's speech has also already been approved in the cabinet.
The session will start after the president’s speech while it will be the maiden session of 2022.
Earlier, the President convened the first parliament session of 2022 exercising the power bestowed upon him as per the Article 72 (1) of the Constitution.
The 15th session of parliament ended on November 28. According to the constitution, there cannot be more than 60 days between two sessions.
