Dean of diplomatic corps, envoy to SL call on president
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Tarek Mohammad Ariful Islam and Vatican Ambassador to Bangladesh and Dean of Diplomatic Corps Archbishop George Kochery paid a courtesy call on President Md Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban this evening.
The High Commissioner of Bangladesh posted in Sri Lanka briefed the President about the current situation in Sri Lanka.
He sought the President's guidance and full cooperation in fulfilling his duties.
During the meeting, President Abdul Hamid ordered to utilize the potential areas between the two countries in the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka.
The President said that the existing relations between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are very good.
He directed to take initiatives to further expand this relationship in various fields.

Then the president met Archbishop George Kochery, outgoing ambassador of the Vatican and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
He thanked the President for his overall cooperation in discharging his duties.
The President thanked the outgoing Vatican Ambassador for his long successful tenure as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
The President said that Bangladesh attaches great importance to the relationship with the Vatican.
He appreciated the steps taken by the outgoing Vatican envoy for the welfare of the Christian community of Bangladesh.
Secretaries concerned to the President were present on the occasion.

Bangladesh an attractive investment destination for Chinese investors: Envoy
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming has said the rapidly developing economy of Bangladesh is an attractive investment destination for Chinese investors.
He said the qualified Chinese enterprises with good corporate governance also will find their interests in the Dhaka Stock Exchange and bring returns to Bangladeshi investors.

"We hope to build a win-win partnership through capital & equity management cooperation between the two countries," said Ambassador Li while addressing the grand opening ceremony of "CBC Capital & Equity Management Ltd" virtually on Tuesday.
Dr. Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, acting chairman, Commissioner, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Mahbub Uz Zaman, Ambassadors of Bangladesh to China and Liu Zhenhua, Economic and Commercial Counsellor, China Embassy to Bangladesh, Ke Changliang, President of Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh and Zhuang Lifeng, President of CBC Capital and Equity Management Ltd. attended the event virtually and in-person.

Beijing with Dhaka to fight COVID-19 for better future: Envoy
China will continue to stand and work closely with Bangladesh and the world to fight together against the pandemic for a better and shared future, said Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming.
"It’s China’s firm belief that only with solidarity and cooperation, the international community can prevail over the epidemic and protect humanity's common home," he said in a message marking the month of fasting - Ramadan.
The China-Bangladesh Friendship International Exhibition Centre in Dhaka, fully funded by China, will turn into a makeshift hospital for the COVID-19 patients, said the Ambassador.
Bangladesh made a proposal in this regard while the Chinese side responded positively, said official told UNB.
Besides, a Chinese medical team of experts comprising doctors, nurses and technicians, will come to Bangladesh to help combat the virus, he said.
The whole world is grappling with the pandemic, with most countries, including Bangladesh, still in the early stages of the outbreaks, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
