5 killed in Rangpur road crash
Five people were killed and two others injured when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw on Mahiganj-Pirgachcha road at Sareyartal in the city on Tuesday, said police.
Four of the deceased were identified as Raza Mia, 46, driver of the auto-rickshaw, Jannat Mawa, 4, Gita Rani, 7 and Shahjahan Mia, 55 of Pirganj upazila.
The accident occurred around 1:30 pm when the truck hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving two people dead on the spot and five others injured, said Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Tazahaat Police Station.
The injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital where three of them succumbed to their injuries.

Police seized the truck and arrested its driver, said the OC.
Road accident in Bangladesh
Road accidents in Bangladesh continue to claim hundreds of lives every year.
At least 1890 people, including 242 women and 312 children, were killed and 3,543 others injured in 1,792 road accidents in the first five months of the current year.
The National Committee to Protect Shipping, Roads and Railways (NCPSRR), a non-government organisation, on Sunday revealed the information in its regular monthly survey and observation report.

Meanwhile, as many as 524 people, including 73 children, were killed and 821 others injured in 467 road accidents across the country in June.

Five killed in Rangpur road crash
Five people were killed when a microbus crashed into a three-wheel vehicle carrying them on the busy Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in the district on Wednesday night, police said.
The deceased were identified as Amzad Hossain, 50, Sirajul Islam, 37, of Taraganj upazila, Ambia Begum, 60, Jahangir Alam, 45 and Nazma Begum, 35, of Gangachhara upazila of the district.
The accident occurred around 7pm near Sanetala Bazar in Sadar upazila of Rangpur district.

"The Taraganj-bound microbus hit the three-wheel vehicle coming from the opposite direction, leaving three of its occupants dead on the spot and two others injured," said Mahbub Morshed, officer-in-charge of Taraganj highway police.
The two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital, he added.

Road accidents in Bangladesh
As many as 6,284 people, including 927 women and 734 children, were killed in 5,371 reported road accidents across the country in 2021.
Road Safety Foundation (RSF), an organisation that campaigns for safe roads, on Saturday revealed a new report on 2021 accidents on Bangladesh's perilous roads.
According to the report, 7,468 people suffered injuries in road accidents last year.
Besides, 166 died in road accidents in March this year in Bangladesh, according to a report by Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC).

3 killed in Rangpur road crash
Three people were killed and five others injured when a truck hit two human haulers on Rngpur-Dinajpur highway at Paglapir in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
Two of the deceased were identified as Morzina Begum, 24 and Ripon Chandra Roy, 25, of Nilphamari district while the identity of another could not be known immediately.
The truck hit the two human haulers as its driver lost control over the steering around 7 am, leaving three people dead on the spot and five others injured, said Sajedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police station.
The injured were taken to Rangpur Mediccal College Hospital
