Banglalink wins Ookla Speedtest Award for 6th consecutive time
Banglalink has won the Ookla Speedtest Award as the "fastest mobile network" in Bangladesh for the sixth consecutive time.
With a speed score of 23.49, Banglalink clinched the top spot on Ookla's Speedtest report for Q3-Q4 2022. Based on millions of results obtained through the Ookla Speedtest app each day, it gives a comprehensive view of worldwide network performance, quality, and accessibility.

The award was handed over to the Banglalink leadership team led by its chief executive officer Erik Aas at the Mobile World Congress in Spain's Barcelona.
Banglalink said it expanded its network coverage by around 40 percent last year, increasing total sites to more than 14,500.

Banglalink donates relief items for Turkey earthquake victims
Banglalink has donated relief for Turkey earthquake victims.
A delegation of Banglalink led by Taimur Rahman, chief corporate and regulatory affairs officer of Banglalink, handed over the items to Sevki Mert Baris, country coordinator of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), at its office in Dhaka Thursday.
As part of the initiative, warm clothes and sleeping bags will be distributed among victims in the quake-hit areas of Turkey.
Also, Banglalink users can stay connected with their near and dear ones in Turkey and Syria, making free ISD calls to these countries. The free service will be available until February 23, 2023, starting Friday.
Erik Aas, chief executive officer of Banglalink, said: "We believe that our efforts as a socially responsible company should go beyond borders during such a catastrophic event."

Banglalink launches eSIM
Telecom operator Banglalink has launched eSIM to allow customers to avail of its digital services without having to use a physical SIM card.
The service was launched at a ceremony in Dhaka Thursday (December 22, 2022).

Customers will be able to use two profiles simultaneously on their eSIM-enabled devices. A physical SIM can be used along with an eSIM as well.
Banglalink customers with eligible devices can migrate to eSIM by visiting any Banglalink Center in the country.
Upanga Dutta, chief commercial officer of Banglalink, said: "As part of our digital operator strategy, we strive to simplify our customers’ digital lifestyles with smart solutions. eSIM will allow them to remain connected and use our digital services in a more hassle-free way."

T20 World Cup: Banglalink Howzzat begins
On the occasion of the World cup T20 Tournament, Banglalink has arranged a one-of-a-kind quiz competition styled "Banglalink Howzzat Quiz" during the break time of the cricket matches.
In cricket vocabulary, "Howzzat'' is a word that is used to express excitement by the bowling team when they appeal together for the batter to be out. Banglalink's parent company VEON's CEO to arrive in Dhaka Friday
Kaan Terzioğlu, Group CEO of Banglalink's parent company Veon, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka tomorrow for a four-day visit.
This will be his third visit to Bangladesh this year, Banglalink said in a statement.
He will meet with government officials and key stakeholders along with attending a press conference in Chattogram during this visit.
"Banglalink has turned out to be a success story for VEON hitting the targeted double-digit growth mark. The upcoming visit is an opportunity for me to discuss with government representatives and key stakeholders how we can further maintain the growth and contribute to Bangladesh's digital progress," Kaan said.

Kaan Terzioğlu was appointed as the Group CEO of Veon on July 1 in 2021. His career spans over 30 years in regional and global leadership roles in management consultation, technology, and telecommunications.
He joined Veon as the co-chief operating officer in November 2019 after stepping down from the group's board, where he served for several months.
Then Kaan played the role of the co-chief executive officer from March 2020 to June 2021.
Before joining Veon, he was Turkcell's CEO from April 2015 until March 2019.

Banglalink, ZTE bring next-generation 4G service to Bangladesh
Banglalink and ZTE have launched the next-generation 4G service for superior customer experience in Bangladesh with the new 2.3GHz time division duplex (TDD) spectrum in Khulna.
The two parties showed high-speed internet services based on high-performance devices, signalling that the Bangladeshi telecom market is "ready to provide and welcome advanced technologies," said a media statement.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder; Banglalink Chief Executive Officer Erik Aas, Chief Technology and Information Officer Huseyin Turker, ZTE Corporation for VEON Global Managing Director Liao Hui, and ZTE Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer Liu Wencheng were present at the launch event.

Banglalink SDG hackathon Code for a Cause 3.0 finale held
The finale of Banglalink hackathon Code for a Cause was held in Dhaka Saturday to encourage young problem solvers to come up with innovative solutions to sustainable development goals (SDGs) challenges.
After a 24-hour competition, winners of the hackathon were officially announced by Banglalink's panel of judges.
Young problem solvers from across the country participated in the Banglalink SDG hackathon through online applications. Based on the prototype solutions they submitted, 15 teams were selected and invited to the hackathon to develop and pitch digital ideas on solving SDG problems related to corporate culture, quality education, climate action, gender equality, entertainment, and gaming.

Team Electric, Team Ubermensch, and Team FarmEx were declared champions, first runners-up and second runners-up.
The teams were awarded prizes and partnership opportunities with Banglalink.

Banglalink signs MoU with BRACU to facilitate students’ skill development
Banglalink has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BRAC University (BRACU) to facilitate students’ skill development.
Banglalink Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer Monzula Morshed and BRAC University Registrar Dr David Dowland recently signed the MoU on behalf of the organisations, according to a press release.
It will enable the students to learn from the top professionals of Banglalink and get the opportunity to become a part of Banglalink’s valued programs.
