2 poachers sentenced to 1 yr for killing 600 birds in Rajshahi
A mobile court in Rajshahi sentenced two poachers to one year in jail for killing at least 600 birds in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.
Police arrested them with 600 slaughtered birds of different species from the Kakramari Patir Bil area on Wednesday.
The convicted poachers are Abu Bakar Siddiki, 55, and Firoz Hossain, 32.
Tipped off, a team from Charghat police station raided that area and arrested them, said UNO Sohrab Hossain.

According to police, the poachers killed the birds to sell in local hotels and restaurants.
“They were sentenced to one year and fined TK 1 thousand as per the ‘Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act- 2012’. They were sent to jail,” said the UNO.
The dead birds were sent to a local orphanage.

4 ‘deer poachers’ held in Sundarbans
Forest Department officials on Saturday night detained four suspected deer poachers from Kochikhali Shukpara area in Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat district under Sundarbans East Department.
The arrestees are- Julhas Hawlader, 32, from Kathaltali village in Patharghata upazila of Barguna district, Rimon Hawlader, 19, from the same village, Jewel Hawlader, 25, and Sohag Hawlader, 24, from Badurtala village.
Mohammad Belayet Hossain, divisional forest officer (DFO), said that a patrol team detained the four deer poachers.
The official also said that the poachers entered the forest illegally.
The team also seized a trawler, traps used for catching deer and four sharp weapons.
A case was filed against them, the official said.

2 poachers held with venison, legs in Bagerhat
Forest officials in a drive arrested two poachers along with 12 kg venison, four deer legs, a trap and a trawler from Dumuria canal in Sharankhola upazila of Sundarbans east zone on Thursday.
The arrestees are Hanif Mistri, 48, son of Wahab Mistri and Masum Mistri, 28, son of Hamid Mistri of Mathbaria upazila in Pirojpur district.

Mohammad Belayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sundarbans East Zone, said a patrol team of forest officials signaled a boat and a trawler to stop in the canal early in the morning.
Sensing danger, the criminals tried to flee the scene leaving behind the boat and the trawler.

Later, the forest officials arrested two poachers while three others managed to flee the scene.
They also recovered 12 kgs of venison, four deer legs, a trap of 30 feet, the trawler and the boat from the spot.

The five poachers were involved in poaching deer from Sundarbans.
A case was filed in this connection.

Three poachers held with venison in Bagerhat
Forest Department officials detained three poachers with venison on Monday afternoon in Tiarchar area in Sharankhola upazila.
The arrested are—Abul Kha, 42, and Sanjoy Mistri, 32, of Patharghata upazila in Bagruna, and Asadul Sheikh, 25, of Dacope upazila.
Mohammad Belayet Hossain, divisional forest officer, Sundarban East Zone, said they detained the three poachers in a drive when a group of seven poachers put deer hunting trap in the forest and slaughtered two dears.
The poachers managed to escape while 30kg venison, 700 feet net trap, three trawlers and a boat were seized, he added.
Meanwhile, 22 deer were rescued and released later.
