‘Krishak Bondu Postal Service’ launched
Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Saturday inaugurated ‘Krishak Bondu Postal Service’ for bringing vegetables to the capital from districts without any charge.
The Minister launched the service through videoconferencing from his residence.
Primarily vegetables from Harirampur upazila’s Jhitka Bazar in Manikganj will be brought to the capital through this farmers-friendly postal service.
Under this service, farmers will get the fair price of his produces through digital platform from home without interference of middlemen, the Minister said.
He said vehicles used for taking postal goods to the districts will be used to bring agricultural goods while coming back to Dhaka, the Minister said adding that this service will be introduced all over the country gradually.
On the first day, 1,200 kg onion, 60kg chili, 80kg brinjal, 60kg bitter gourd, 60kg snake gourd, 60kg spotted gourd, 60kg ladies finger, 120kg cucumber, and 180kg pumpkin were brought to Dhaka from Jhitka bazar in Manikganj.
These agricultural products were taken to Gabtoli Krishi market and Meena Bazar in Dhanmondi.
Meena Bazar, Chaldal, and Parking Bazar are buying goods from farmers directly on digital platform.
