BD Hot Deals offers up to Tk10,000 cashback on Nagad payment
E-commerce platform BD Hot Deals has entered the market with a special cashback offer for making payments through mobile financial services provider Nagad.
Customers can get a cashback of up to Tk10,000 upon placing a pre-order through Nagad from home and abroad.
The official inauguration of BD Hot Deals was announced in Banani, Dhaka through an event Thursday.

Md Nojmul Sayadat, chairman of BD Hot Deals, and Shihab Uddin Chowdhury, chief sales officer of Nagad, signed an agreement at the event.
With a 20 percent advance payment, any product from the US or the UK will be delivered to customers in 25 days through BD Hot Deals. It will be subjected to the digital platform guidelines of the government.
However, the remaining 80 percent payment must be made at the time of product delivery.

Customers will be eligible to obtain a 10 percent cashback, up to Tk10,000, if the entire payment is made through Nagad.

Evaly in admin: HC receives three ex-secys' names
The Commerce Ministry has proposed the names of three former secretaries in response to a request from the High Court, which is in the process of appointing a board to administer controversial e-commerce platform Evaly.
Retired secretary of the Ministry of Land Maksudur Rahman Patwari, retired secretary of Local Government and Rural Development Rezaul Ahsan and former chairman of the Land Reforms Board Yakub Ali Patwari.
HC had asked for names of currently serving secretaries along with three former one.

At the same time, it said that the orders on the formation of the board of administrators for Evaly will be passed on October 18.
HC company bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar on Wednesday passed the order.
As the top two officials (CEO and chairman) of Evaly are in jail, the same bench on Tuesday said it would form a four-member board for Evaly to try and track the money the platform has allegedly embezzled.

Commerce Ministry lawyer Taposh Kanti said the names of the three retired secretaries have been given. The court said to provide the names of the working secretaries as well.
However, HC said that the board members would be finalized after verification.

Dhamaka COO arrested for 'fraud'
The chief operating officer of e-commerce platform Dhamaka Shopping’ and two other persons have been arrested in Dhaka on charges of fraud.
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) nabbed the trio -- including Dhamaka COO Sirajul Islam Rana -- in the capital on Tuesday night, ASP (media) at RAB HQ, Imran Khan, told UNB on Wednesday.

HC bans sale-transfer of Evaly’s property
The High Court on Wednesday ordered a ban on the sale and transfer of movable and immovable property of controversial e-commerce platform, Evaly.
The HC company bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order after the hearing of an application by customer Farhad Hossain seeking the dissolution of the beleaguered company.
Barrister AM Masum and Barrister Syed Mahsib Hossain presented arguments in favour of the applicant.
After the hearing Syed Mahsib told reporters that custyomer Farhad ordered electronics products from Evaly in May and paid advance. The company provided him a payment receipt as well but he didn’t receive the products.

Eventually, when Farhad did neither get his money back nor the products he approached the court asking for disbandment of Evaly, he said.
Syed Mahsib further said that besides directing not to sell or transfer the movable and immovable property of Evaly the court issued a notice asking why Evaly will not be terminated.
Defendants have been asked to respond within September 30, the next date set for further hearing.
Evaly Limited, Registrar Joint Stock Companies and Firms, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, Consumer Rights Protection Bureau, Nagad, Bkash, Bangladesh Competition Commission, E-Cab Association of Bangladesh, BASIS, Bangladesh Bank and Commerce Secretary have been asked to reply to the notice.
Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, the chairman of the platform were arrested on September 16, after a customer named Arif Baker filed a case at Gulshan Police Station alleging that e-commerce platform was not delivering product despite taking advanced payments.

Inspector Sohel Rana, held in India, is unlikely to be brought home: DMP chief
Police inspector Sheikh Sohel Rana, who has been held in India for illegal entry into the country, is unlikely to be repatriated to Bangladesh as he is facing a case in the neighbouring country.
Indian media reported that Sohel was arrested on Friday near the Changrabandha border under Cooch Behar in the Indian state of West Bengal on his way to Nepal.

A Cooch Behar judicial magistrate court remanded him for three days in police custody in the trespassing case filed with the Mekhliganj police station when he was produced before the court on Saturday.
Contacted, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DMP) Md Shafiqul Islam told UNB that they will try to bring back Sohel Rana but it may not possible at this moment as he is an accused in a case there filed by the Indian authority.
He said that “We will try to bring him back but it will not be possible because we are not sure that they will hand over him to us until the case is settled.”
Since the case has been filed there (India), “we do not know whether they will give him to us without trial, he further said.
Sohel and nine others were accused in a case filed on Thursday with the Gulshan police station on charges of embezzling money of customers of e-orange, allegedly owned by Sohel and his family members.

Before fleeing the country he was posted at Banani Police Station as inspector (investigation).
Contacted, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station Nur-e-Azam said Sohel was on duty on last Thursday but he had been absent since Friday morning.
Inspector Sohel is reportedly involved with e-commerce platform E-orange. He apparently left his workplace without permission after E-orange customers filed the case with Gulshan police station. His sister and brother-in-law, who used to run the company, are in jail now.

Hasinul previously served as the government & stakeholder relations director at Banglalink Digital Communications Ltd, the e-commerce platform said in a release.
