Shahjahanpur double murder: Second suspect held with gun
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detectives have arrested a second suspect in connection with the killing of an Awami League politician and a female college student in Shahjahanpur.
The arrestee has been identified as Arfanullah Damal, said Rifat Mohammad Shamim, deputy commissioner of detective branch (Motijheel division).
Following a tip off, a team from DB Motijheel division conducted a drive in the city’s Kamalapur area on Thursday night and arrested Arfanullah. "A gun has been seized from his possession," he told UNB.
A case will be filed against Arfanullah under the Arms Act at the Motijheel police station, and he will be subjected to custodial interrogation, post his production in a court, the deputy commissioner said.

On the night of March 24, AL politician Zahidul Islam Tipu, who was on a microbus, and Samia Afrin Priti, a 22-year-old college student, who was returning home on a cycle rickshaw, were killed in firing in front of Islami Bank Hospital.
Tipu was a former general secretary of the AL Motijheel committee and Priti was a student of Begum Badrunnesa Government College. Tipu’s driver was also injured in the firing.
They were all stuck in a traffic jam in the area when a biker wearing a helmet and a mask appeared from nowhere and fired at them.

The next day, a case was filed against unidentified people over the double murder.
On March 27, police arrested Akash, 34, the prime accused in the double murder case from Bogura district. The next day, a Dhaka court placed Akash on a seven-day police remand for custodial interrogation.

Suspected Ansarullah militants held in Mymensingh
Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Muktagachha upazila in Mymensingh.
The arrestees have been identified as Md Kawsar Ahmed alias Milon (30), son of Abdul Majid of Bokchar village in Muktagacha upazila, and Zahid Mostafa (20), son of Mostafa Mofazzal Haque Shariful of Chandimondo village.
Acting on a tip-off, sources said, a team of ATU conducted a drive in the Kalibari Mosque area of Chechua Bazar in Muktagachha upazila on Thursday night and nabbed the duo.
Two mobile phones, four SIM cards and seven books on extremism were seized from the possession of the accused, the ATU said in a release.

Screenshots of 34-page Facebook and Messenger chats about their organisation's extremist activities have been found stored in their mobile phones, according to ATU.
The duo were selling books on extremism to ABT members across the country, using multiple fake Facebook IDs.
