The government has evacuated about 18.61 lakh people and 3.61 livestock to 14,636 shelter centres in coastal districts until Wednesday noon as super cyclone ‘Amphan’ is likely to make landfall this (Wednesday) evening.

The Fisheries and Livestock Ministry on Tuesday launched a control room to deal with the destruction likely to be caused by the super cyclone Amphan.

The people living in coastal regions of the country will be evacuated to shelters by Tuesday evening, said State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation on Tuesday suspended ferry services on different routes as super cyclone ‘Amphan’ is likely to hit Bangladesh by Wednesday afternoon/evening.
