RMCH Corona unit scrambles as it reports 19 more deaths
Nineteen more Covid patients have died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in 24 hours till Sunday morning, health officials said.
Director General of the hospital Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani said nine of the patients were from Rajshahi district, six from Natore, two from Naogaon and one each from Pabna and Kushtia districts.

The authorities recorded 22 deaths in the district on July 1, the highest single-day toll so far.
Some 354 people died of Covid-19 at the corona unit of RMCH in June last.
"Meanwhile, 124 people have tested positive for corona at the hospital during the 24-hour period. Some 495 samples were tested in two laboratories of the district during the period," the director said.
The positivity rate currently stands at 25.50%.

Besides, 74 people were admitted to the hospital with Covid symptoms in the past 24 hours. Currently, 518 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital which has 454 beds.
RMCH has been one of the most stretched hospitals in the country during the second wave of Covid-19, particularly since the latter part of May when the deadly Delta variant of the virus was identified in multiple samples in Rajshahi division.

20 more die of Covid at Rajshahi hospital
Twenty more people have died of Covid-19 at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Wednesday.
While two of them were confirmed Covid-19 patients, the remaining showed symptoms of the virus, said hospital director Brigadier General Shamim Yeazdani.

Of the deceased, seven were from Rajshahi, two each from Chapainawabganj and Natore, three from Naogaon, four from Pabna, and one each from Kushtia and Meherpur districts.
Shamim Yazdani said that 66 people have been admitted to the corona unit of the hospital in the past 24 hours.
On the other hand, some 67 people were discharged from the hospital after recovery during the period.

Besides, some 470 people are currently undergoing treatment against 454 beds at the corona unit of the hospital.

13 more Covid patients die at Rajshahi hospital
Amid an alarming spike in infections and deaths in the frontier districts, Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on Tuesday recorded 13 more Covid-related deaths in 24 hours.
Among them, five tested positive for Covid-19, while the remaining showed symptoms of the virus, said hospital director Brigadier General Shamim Yeazdani.

Of the deceased, 12 were from Rajsahi district and the remaining one was from Natore.
A total of 229 people have died of Covid-19 at the corona unit of RMCH in the last 21 days, officials said.
Shamim said that 56 people were admitted to the corona unit of the hospital in 24 hours till Monday morning.

Of them, 37 are from Rajshahi, five from Chapainawabganj, seven from Natore, five from Naogaon and one from Kushtia.
Sixty-one people were discharged from the hospital after recovery during the period.
Besides, 393 people are currently undergoing treatment against 309 beds at the corona unit of the hospital.

Meanwhile, the infection rate has further decreased in Rajshahi. On Monday, 385 samples were tested at two laboratories of the district, of which 129 came out positive.

10 more die of Covid at RMCH in a single day
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) recorded 10 more Covid-19 related deaths in 24 hours until 6 am on Sunday amid spike in infections and deaths in frontier districts.
Among them, one tested Covid positive while the remaining nine died after showing Covid-19 symptoms at the hospital, said director of the hospital Brigadier General Shamim Yeazdani.

Shamim Yazdani said 58 people were admitted to the Corona unit of the hospital in 24 hours till Sunday morning.
Of them, 35 are from Rajshahi, nine from Chapainawabganj, three from Natore, six from Naogaon and one from Pabna.

Thirty-eight people were discharged from the hospital after recovery during the period.
Besides, 377 people are undergoing treatment against 309 beds at the Corona unit of the hospital which was 365 in the previous day.

Twelve people including five women died of Covid-19 at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in 24 hours until 8 am on Monday as infections and deaths continue to soar in the frontier districts.
Among them, ten were Covid-19 patients while the rest two died after showing Covid-19 symptoms at the hospital, said director of the hospital Brigadier General Shamim Yeazdani.

Of the deceased, three were from Rajshahi, six from Chapainawabganj, two from Natore and one from Meherpur district.
A total of 137 people have died of Covid in the last 13 days till Monday morning.

Forty-four people were admitted to the Corona unit of the hospital in 24 hours till Monday morning and of them, 33 are from Rajshahi, five from Chapainawabganj, two each from Naogaon and Pabna and one each from Natore and Kushtia districts.
Twenty-six people were discharged from the hospial after recovery during the period. 307 people have been undergoing treatment at the hospital against 271 beds at the Corona unit of the hospital.

However, the hospital authorities are providing treatment after arranging additional beds, said Shamim. “Only those who need oxygen facilities are being admitted to the hospital due to shortage of beds,” he said.
As the coronavirus situation in Rajshahi kept worsening the district administration imposed a strict lockdown from 5pm on June 4 till June 17 midnight.

Thakurgaon seals border areas to contain Covid
The border areas of Thakurgaon have been sealed off in the wake of a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in the district, officials said on Thursday.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been asked to step up vigil along the border with neighbouring India to prevent the spread of the Indian Covid-19 variant in this country, according to Lt Colonel Md Maksud, the commanding officer of BGB-50 Thakurgaon Battalion.

Deputy Commissioner KM Kamruzzaman said the bordering areas have been sealed off so as to prevent the transmission of the Indian variant of Covid-19.
According to sources, as many as 36 people in the district tested positive for Covid-19 between May 28 and June 2.
Thakurgaon Civil Surgeon Dr Mahfuzar Rahman Sarkar said that 1,705 people have tested positive for Covid-19 to date, and of them, 1,570 people have recovered.

Some 36 people have died so far from the virus in the district.
Already a 50-bed corona unit has been opened at Sadar Hospital in the district and an isolation ward at upazila health complex has been prepared for treating Covid-19 patients, he said.
Meanwhile, sources said a liquid oxygen plant set up at Sadar Hospital five months ago is yet to be made operational due to a shortage of manpower.
However, health authorities said the oxygen plant will start functioning from this month only.

"A ventilator is also lying unused at Sadar Hospital due to a lack of skilled manpower," said Dr Nadirul Aziz Chapal, a supervisor at the hospital.
"If the Indian Covid variant is detected here, it would be really tough for us to tackle the situation," he said.

Cop dies at SBMCH corona unit
A police constable died at corona unit of Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) early Thursday.
Sohel Mahmud, 35, hailing from Pangasia area in Dumki upazila of Patuakhali district and a constable of Barishal Metropolitan Police, died around 12:15am, said Nurul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station.
Sohel, who had diabetics and previous record of breathing problem, was taken to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after he fell sick.
Doctor Bakir Hosssain, director of the hospital, said his samples were collected for test.
