Flight carrying Tarique, family lands in Dhaka
The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday.
The flight, BG-102 departed Sylhet Osmani International Airport at 11:04 am and landed at Shahjalal Airport at 11:44 am, said BNP Chairperosn’s press wing member Shamsuddin Didar .
Earlier, the aircraft landed in Sylhet at 9:57 am after leaving London’s Heathrow Airport around 12:23 am BST.
Senior BNP leaders, including members of the party’s Standing Committee, were present at the airport to welcome Tarique Rahman.
Tarique is accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman, daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, and other personal aides.
After arrival, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to briefly address party leaders, supporters and the nation near the 300 Feet area of the capital, where thousands of supporters have gathered.
Red bus with ‘Bangladesh first’ slogan ready at Dhaka airport for Tarique
He is expected to thank the people and offer a short prayer expressing gratitude for his safe return.
A red bus bearing the slogan “Bangladesh First” has been kept ready in front of the airport’s VIP terminal for his onward journey.
Party sources said Tarique Rahman will travel on the bus to the stage set up at the July 36 Expressway, also known as the 300 Feet area, where a reception has been arranged to mark his return.
Heightened security measures were seen in and around the airport area as preparations continued for his movement to the programme venue.

No explosives or suspicious items found in Biman aircraft: Authorities
No explosives or suspicious items were found during a thorough security sweep of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight following a bomb threat received on Friday, the airline authorities said.
Security inspection was completed at 7:58pm and no evidence of any explosive materials or suspicious objects was found, said a Biman press release.
The situation remains fully under control as security agencies acted with the utmost caution from the very beginning of the incident, it added.
Efforts are currently underway to re-board passengers and resume the flight to its scheduled destination after ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew, said the press release.
Earlier at 4:26pm, Biman Bangladesh Airlines received an anonymous phone call claiming that a bomb had been planted on flight BG373, a Boeing 737-800 scheduled to fly to Kathmandu.
At the time of the call, the aircraft was taxiing with 142 passengers and 7 crew members on board.
Singapore-bound Biman flight returns to Dhaka, all passengers safe
Following instructions from the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), emergency protocols were immediately activated.
Bomb disposal units from the Bangladesh Air Force and the Armed Police Battalion (APBn)’s K-9 squad were deployed to the scene.
Later, the bomb disposal team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) joined the operation to inspect the aircraft’s cabin and luggage, it said.
All passengers were safely evacuated from the plane and transferred to the lounge area after undergoing individual screening.
Flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have remained normal , it added.

Biman flight lands safely in Dhaka after losing wheel mid-air
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight made a safe landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday afternoon despite losing one of its wheels shortly after take-off from Cox’s Bazar.
ABM Rawshan Kabir, General Manager (Public Relations) of the state-owned airline, told UNB, “We cannot confirm the exact reason or details at this point about the mid-air wheel loss. A full inspection by the engineering department will determine it."
Biman reschedules flights on three routes amid India-Pakistan tensions
According to the control room at Cox’s Bazar Airport, one of the wheels of flight BG-436 detached suddenly moments after the aircraft took off from the runway.
The flight, which was carrying 71 passengers, departed Cox’s Bazar at 1:17pm and successfully landed in Dhaka at 2:17pm without further incident.
The flight operations remain as usual at Dhaka airport.

T20 World Cup: Bangladesh team reaches Oman
Bangladesh national cricket team reached Muscat, Oman at around 9:30 am on Monday.
They left Dhaka Sunday midnight by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
There was uncertainty over Bangladesh’s departure due to the tropical cyclone Shaheen that hit Oman on Sunday.
Due to the cyclone, the Muscat International Airport postponed all flights indefinitely. However, the better weather helped the authorities to resume the operation of the airprot.

Bangladesh team was originally scheduled to leave Dhaka at 10:45 pm on Sunday which was delayed due to inclement weather.
After a five-day camp in Oman, Bangladesh will travel to the UAE on October 9 to play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka and Ireland. They will return to Oman on October 15.
In the first round of the World Cup, Bangladesh will take on Scotland, Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 17, 19 and 21.

First Time in UN History: Biman carries Bangladeshi Peacekeepers
