Banglargonji, Ayub Bachchu Foundation commemorate rock icon Ayub Bachchu with tribute exhibition
Popular online fashion house Banglargonji - Tee of Bengal, in collaboration with Ayub Bachchu Foundation, have jointly organised a two-day t-shirt fair and commemorative exhibition at the Safiuddin Shilpalay in the capital’s Dhanmondi.
The commemorative exhibition, titled ‘Harano Bikeler Golpe’ honouring the late rock legend Ayub Bachchu, was inaugurated by Ayub Bachchu Foundation founder and widow of the rock icon Ferdous Akhtar Chandana on Friday.
The exhibition is showcasing an exclusive glimpse of the late LRB founder-frontman Ayub Bachchu’s seven historic guitars, along with his exclusive memorabilia including t-shirts, his sunglass, hats and caps, and his wristwatch, from the AB family’s collections.

Trendsetting Bangladeshi fashion brand Banglargonji - Tee of Bengal is also showcasing its flagship event ‘Banglargonji Mela’s fifth edition alongside this commemorative tribute to Ayub Bachchu.
The inauguration ceremony of this two-day event on Friday was joined by LRB guitarist Abdullah Al Masud and Banglargonji CEO Mohammad Yearuzzamanand as the special guests, alongside fans of Ayub Bachchu from all walks of life.
“Ayub Bachchu dedicated his entire life to enthral his beloved fans, and this commemorative exhibition is also dedicated to them. We are displaying some of his exclusive memorabilia for the first time ever and personally, I am overwhelmed to see the response of his admirers, Ferdous Akhtar Chandana told UNB.
LRB guitarist Abdullah Al Masud said, “There hasn't been a day since his death when we haven't felt his physical absence. These guitars have histories of their own, and we are glad that the admirers and fans of our boss (Ayub Bachchu) are enjoying the opportunity to see these exclusive memorabilia.”
The other part of the event, the traditional ‘Banglargonji Mela,’ has returned to the t-shirt enthusiasts in the city for the fifth time. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the t-shirt fair could not take place in 2021.
Banglargonji - Tee of Bengal became a popular brand among youths due to its unique Bengali calligraphy and typography-based t-shirts, enlivening the social humour, puns and metaphors from the past to the present.

Ayub Bachchu’s 60th birth anniversary today
Tuesday marks the 60th birth anniversary of late rock superstar, guitarist, composer, and founding front man of popular band LRB Ayub Bachchu.
The music fraternity and fans across the world are commemorating the legend with great respect for his enormous contribution to the music of Bangladesh, especially in the band music genre.
Band legends including Maqsoodul Haque, Hamin Ahmed, Labu Rahman, his former bandmates Saidul Hasan Swapan, SI Tutul, Riyadh Sarwar, lyricists Shahid Mahmud Jangi and Latiful Islam Shibli and many other music stars have shared their fond memories and heartfelt wishes on social media, commemorating the rock icon's birth anniversary.
Born on August 16, 1962, in Patiya, Chittagong, Ayub Bachchu started his music career with the band ‘Feelings’ in 1977 after graduating from Government Muslim High School in 1975.
At Feelings, he performed as the lead guitarist alongside his most popular contemporary rock star and another rock legend of the country, James, for the next two years before joining the melodious band ‘Souls’ in 1980.

Alongside the iconic Bangladeshi singers and musicians such as Tapan Chowdhury, Naquib Khan, Kumar Bishwajit and more, Bachchu continued as the band’s lead guitarist till 1990, before eventually launching ‘LRB’ (Love Runs Blind), a full-fledged rock band in 1991.
With the bold attempt to release their first venture as a double album, the band brought out ‘LRB-I’ and ‘LRB-II’, featuring many of its popular songs like “Ghum Vanga Shohore”, “Shesh Chithi”, ‘Madhobi” and more. Soon, LRB started to become popular for their tunes and presentations with balanced and guitar-based lyrics.
Although started as a hard rock band, LRB soon became known for their experiment with genres such as blues rock, soft rock, and psychedelic rock; and continued cementing its legacy as one of the pioneering rock bands in Bangladesh. With Bachchu, LRB released 14 critically acclaimed albums and "Ferari Mon: Unplugged Live", which was the first live album in Bangladesh.
The band went on to perform over 1,000 concerts that have included extensive performances in Bangladesh as well as tours in Asia, Europe, Australia and the United States and became the first Bangladeshi band to perform at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York City. Altogether, LRB changed the landscape in Bangladeshi band culture under the leadership of Ayub Bachchu.
Aside from being the successful front man of LRB, Bachchu was also extremely successful in his solo ventures including ‘Rokto Golap’ (1986), ‘Moyna’ (1988) and with his extremely popular album ‘Koshto’ (1995), often considered by many as a king’s comeback after seven years while Bachchu was busy with LRB.

With a total of 16 solo albums, a full-fledged studio-turned production house named ‘AB Kitchen’, numerous super hit playbacks such as ‘‘Ammajaan’’, ‘’Sagorika”, “Ononto Prem”, “Ami to Preme Porini” and many other scores in Bangladeshi commercial movies, Blockbuster hit singles and band scores such as “Koshto Pete Valobashi”, ‘‘Shei Tumi Keno Eto Ochena Hole’’, ‘’Ferari Ei Monta Amar’’, ‘‘Cholo Bodle Jai’’, ‘’Ekhon Onek Raat’’, ‘‘Hashte Dekho Gaite Dekho’’ and more, and inspiring musicians from guitar enthusiasts to popular and established artists in both Bangladesh and West Bengal - Ayub Bachchu created his legacy during his short-lived glorious life.
On October 18, 2018, the rock legend startled the world by passing suddenly from a terrible heart attack.
He is survived by his wife Ferdous Ayub Chandana, daughter Fairuz Saffra Ayub, son Ahnaf Tazwar Ayub, and billions of followers worldwide.

Smritydahan: Tanvir Tareq's book on rock legend Ayub Bachchu published
Smritydahan, the first book ever written on the country’s rock legend, Ayub Bachchu, has been published in Bangladesh recently.
Authored by music composer Tanvir Tareq, the book published by Anindya Prakash will be available in this year’s Ekushey book fair.
National Award-winning composer Tanvir Tareq has described the book as an "overview prose".
“My 22-year-long ties with Bachchu bhai was beyond just a relationship between a musician and an artiste or a journalist and an artiste. I have tried to express the mesmerism of that time, sentiments and fondness through the overviews of my heart’s gratitude," he said.

Tanvir, however, said none of the around 50 interviews of the music maestro he has taken was included in the book.
“Those interviews were about his opinion on contemporary issues of that time which may confuse the readers now. The book is about his memories that are burning me since his departure so that readers and fans of Ayub Bachchu of all generations can connect with it," he added.
In an introductory passage, Ayub Bachchu’s wife Ferdous Ayub Chandana wrote: "In this book, Tareq has written some emotional memoirs about meeting Ayub Bachchu, the time spent with him and the working with him. Reading those scenarios, I was being reminded of him during that time again and again. I know that his innumerable fans will also have a long walk with Ayub Bachchu reading the book. This memoir will be a great reference in the future for any research work on Ayub Bachchu's biography or him.”

Legendary rock star Ayub Bachchu’s 3rd death anniversary today
Monday marks the third death anniversary of eminent singer, guitarist, composer and music director Ayub Bachchu who died of cardiac arrest at his Moghbazar residence on this day at the age of 56.
The beloved front man of one of the most famous Bangladeshi rock bands Love Runs Blind, popularly known as LRB - Bachchu is considered as one of the most respected Bangladeshi music artiste.
Fans, friends and admirers of the celebrated rock star alongside his family and different organizations and media outlets are commemorating this day paying their tributes to the rock icon.

Ahnaf Tazwar Ayub, son of the rockstar posted a guitar cover of Bachchu's one of the most popular songs "Ghumonto Shohore" (In the Sleeping City) on LRB's official Facebook page on Monday, quoting: "I really felt like you were right there beside me when I played this, Sollo. We all miss and love you very much."
Bachchu's wife, Ferdous Chandana Ayub said that an initiative has been taken to create a museum of Ayub Bachchu where 40 of his used guitars will be put on display. The iconic guitarist was known for his amazing collection of guitars, which he collected from all over the world.
Many fans and music stars have been paying their special tributes to the rock legend on the social media marking his death anniversary.
Students of Yamaha Music School has made a piano cover of Bachchu's iconic song "Shei Tumi" on Sunday, shared by Yamaha Music Bangladesh's official Facebook page.
Among other events, Chittagong Musician Club is scheduled to organize a discussion event on the life and works of Ayub Bachchu at the Celebration Community Point in Moghbazar at 6:30 pm on Monday.
Last year on this day, Bangladesh Copyright Office unveiled the digital archiving of rock legend Ayub Bachchu’s all the melodious creations that he worked on for his entire life.
Born in Patiya at Khorna union in Chittagong on August 16, 1962 to Mohammad Ishaque Chowdhury and Nurjahan Begum, Bachchu founded his band LRB in 1991 in Chittagong.

Prior to that, Bachchu started his journey as a band musician with his band ‘Golden Boys’ (later changed to ’Ugly Boys’) that he formed with his childhood friend and legendary Bangladeshi singer Kumar Bishwajit, and also served as a prominent member in renowned Bangladeshi bands such as Feelings with another contemporary rock icon of Bangladesh, James - and Souls, where he played for 10 years before founding LRB.
One of the most popular Bangladeshi bands of all time, LRB has performed more than thousands of gigs in the home (500+ open-air & 2000+ indoor) and abroad. They went for their first international tour in the USA and they played at 7 states, and till date, it is the only Bangla Rock Band which played their music in the famous Medicine Square Garden (New York).
In his lifetime, Ayub Bachchu has created a total of 16 solo albums, a full-fledged studio-turned production house named ‘AB Kitchen’, numerous super hit playbacks such as ‘‘Ammajaan’’, ‘’Sagorika”, “Ononto Prem”, “Ami to preme porini” and many other scores in Bangladeshi commercial movies; blockbuster hit singles and band scores such as “Koshto pete valobashi”, ‘‘Shei Tumi Keno Eto Ochena Hole’’, ‘’Ferari Ei Monta Amar’’, ‘’Ekdin Ghum bhanga Shohore’’, ‘‘Cholo Bodle Jai’’, ‘’Ekhon Onek Raat’’, ‘‘Hashte Dekho Gaite Dekho’’ and inspiring guitar enthusiasts and popular artists in both Bangladesh and West Bengal.
