Three injured in gun attack by robbers in Shariatpur
Three people sustained bullet injuries in a robbery attempt at Angaria in Sadar upazila of Shariatpur district on Friday night.
The injured were identified as Tota Mia, 35, son of Dalil Uddin of Shariatpur district; Masum Mia, 30, a bulkhead worker and son of Joynal Mia; and Alamin, 19, a bulkhead worker and son of Anis Fakir of Pirojpur district.
According to locals, a group of robbers on a speedboat attempted to enter the Angaria area around 10 pm.
Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Palong Police Station, said the locals, sensing their presence, tried to stop them. At one stage, the robbers opened fire, injuring three people.
One of the injured was sent to Dhaka for better treatment, while the others were admitted to a local hospital.
2 more arrested in case over rape and robbery on a moving bus in Rajshahi
Meanwhile, locals managed to capture five robbers as they attempted to flee and gave them a severe beating. The injured robbers are currently receiving treatment at Sadar Hospital.
Legal action is being taken against the robbers, the OC added.

Robbery, ‘sexual assault on bus’; case filed after 3 days
A case was filed on Friday at Mirzapur Police Station in Tangail, three days after the horrifying incident of robbery and ‘rape of two female passengers’ on a moving bus.
Mirzapur Police Station’s duty officer Md Khairul Bashar said three passengers of ‘Unique Road Royals Paribahan’—Omar Ali, Majnu Mia and Sohag Hasan—filed the case.
A gang of robbers hijacked a bus on the highway, looted cash and valuables worth Tk 7 lakh and allegedly raped two female passengers on February 17.
Suspecting the involvement of the bus staff -- driver Babul, supervisor Sumon and assistant supervisor Alam --in the incident, passengers handed them over to police after calling the national emergency helpline, 999.

The Natore district police produced them in court but they were freed on bail the following day, intensifying public outrage.
Incident Details
According to the case statement, on the night of February 17, the plaintiffs -- Omar Ali, Majnu Mia, and Sohag Hasan, hailing from Natore and Rajshahi districts -- boarded the Unique Road Royals passenger bus (registration no. Mymensingh B-11-0061) from Gabtoli, Dhaka.
The bus, carrying 40–45 passengers, picked up 6–7 more passengers from Hemayetpur bus station.
Around 1:30 am, during a rest stop at Chandra, another 8–9 passengers boarded the bus.
Around 2:00 am, as the bus reached the underpass near Kharajora Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakair upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway, a group of robbers, armed with sharp weapons, took control of the vehicle.
14 members of inter-district robbery gang held in Jashore
Some of the robbers assaulted and looted passengers, seizing cash and valuables worth around Tk 7 lakh.
Several female passengers were on board and the robbers dragged one a woman to the back of the bus and raped her.
Another female passenger was also assaulted in the seat just before the back row.
After completing the robbery, the gang forced the driver to turn the bus at the Natia Para Nasir Glass U-turn in Delduar upazila and then drove towards Gazipur.
Passing through Kaliakair, Chandra, and Konabari, the bus eventually resumed its route towards Natore and Rajshahi.
In the early hours, the robbers disappeared at an unidentified location along the highway.
Upon reaching Natore, passengers reported the robbery and sexual assault to the Officer-in-Charge of Baraigram Police Station Sirajul Islam.
However, they were advised to contact Tangail’s Mirzapur and Kaliakair police stations instead.
Police Response and Case Filing
Acting on directives from senior police officials, Mirzapur Police Station registered the case three days after the incident, on Friday (21 February).
The case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000.
On Friday, Tangail Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman, Mirzapur Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police HM Mahbub Rezwan Chowdhury and other police officials visited key locations on the Dhaka-Tangail highway and Mirzapur Police Station.
SP Mizanur Rahman assured the media that all necessary measures would be taken to bring the criminals to justice.
Mirzapur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Md Mosharraf Hossain said as per the directives of senior officials, law enforcement agencies are employing technological resources to track down the suspects.
Forces from Gazipur, Natore, Rajshahi and Dhaka are assisting in the investigation.

Miscreants attempt robbery at Lalmonirhat Sonali Bank
Miscreants have attempted a robbery by digging a tunnel at a Sonali Bankbranch in Lalmonirhat.
The incident happened around 1:30 am on Tuesday at the sub-branch of Sonali Bank in Boro Badi area of the Sadar upazila, said Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Noor Nabi.
After being informed, police along with the army and law enforcement agencies, have surrounded the bank. For security reasons, no one is being allowed near the bank.

According to locals, around 1:30 AM, a clerk at the bank noticed something and screamed. When the locals rushed to the scene, they saw a tunnel behind the bank's wall. They then informed the police and law enforcement agencies, who arrived and cordoned off the entire area.
Meanwhile, the bank authorities have not commented on whether any money has been looted. However, law enforcement agencies have stated that an investigation is underway.

Boro Badi Union Parishad Chairman Nazmul Huda Limon said that the bank authorities, along with the police and the army, are investigating whether any money or other items have been stolen from the bank.
An investigation is ongoing and further details will be provided once the investigation is complete, the OC added.

11 robbers in DGFI disguise held in Chattogram
Police in a drive arrested eleven members of a gang while they were preparing to commit robbery in the guise of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) members from Khulshi in Chattogram district on Friday night.
The arrestees were identified as Md Wazed, 36, Md Hossain, 42, Rubel hossain, 25, Mohi uddin, 45, Abdus Sabur, 37, Md Yeakub, 35, Mozaher Alam, 55, Md Romel, 41, Osman, 24, Abdul Mannan, 35 and Shawkat Akbar, 28.
Six arrested for trying to snatch suspect from police custody at Dhaka’s New Market
Mujibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station, said thirteen robbers in a microbus entered a multistoried building in Khulshi area around 12am.
They introduced themselves as DGFI members to the security guards and entered the house of Gias Uddin Ansari, former managing director of Jamuna Oil Company, breaking open the door, after tying the legs and hand of the security guards with rope.
Sensing the presence of the robbers, the other inhabitants of the building informed the matter to police.

Woman killed during robbery in Patuakhali
A 50-year-old woman has been killed during a robbery at her home in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali.
The incident happened at the home of retired army personnel Abul Kalam Azad in Salimpur village of the Nilganj union of the upazila on Monday night, said Kalapara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jewel Islam.
The deceased was identified as Shahnaz Parveen Lucky.
3 teenagers killed in Natore truck-motorbike collision
According to police and locals, the victim was alone and asleep in her house at the time of the attack. Around 8 am on Tuesday, her brother-in-law, Shah Alam, discovered the back door open when he arrived at the house. Upon entering, he found that the victim's hands, feet, and mouth were tied up.
Later, locals informed the police.
The body will be sent for an autopsy. Investigations are ongoing, added the OC.

Robbery, rape of woman: Seven ‘robbers’ arrested in Naogaon
Police arrested seven members of a suspected inter-district robber gang with sharp weapons in connection with the robbery and rape of a housewife in Mohadevpur upazila of Naogaon.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Safiful Sarowar revealed this at a press conference at the latter’s office on Tuesday.
The arrestees were Shariful Islam Pacha, 29, Tarek Hossain, 26, Solaiman Ali, 38, Sagar Hossain, 19, Rubel Sardar, 28, Ripon Ali, 30, Sagar Hossain, 19 (2). All hail from several upazilas of the district.
The police super said a gang of robbers stormed into a house in Khajur village of the upazila at night on December 29 last.

While committing the robbery, the accused abducted the housewife and raped her in turns after taking her away to an open field, the police super said.
Being informed, police rescued the victim from the spot while a case was filed against some unidentified people in this connection later, he informed.

Three out of the arrestees confessed to the robbery and the rape while the rest would be interrogated in remand, he added.

Police arrest councilor, 3 others for preparing to commit robbery in Jashore
Police arrested four individuals, including a councilor and a former army officer, for allegedly preparing to commit a robbery at the Sheikhhati High Court intersection in Jashore early Monday.
The arrestees have been identified as Mizanur Rahman (52), a retired army officer and son of Mozahar Mandal; Firoz Ahmed (45), son of Amirul Islam; Golam Mostafa (45), a councilor of Ward No. 5 of Chowgacha municipality and son of Maghreb Ali; and Rocky Biswas (30), son of Abu Khayer of Sadar upazila.
According to police, a team conducted a raid around 1 am based on information that a group of criminals was preparing for a robbery in the area. The suspects attempted to flee in a microbus upon sensing the presence of law enforcement but were intercepted and arrested.

3 detained for bank robbery attempt in Keraniganj
Three robbers were detained by law enforcers in connection with an attempted robbery at Jinjira branch of Rupali Bank in Dhaka's Keraniganj on Thursday afternoon.
The detainees—Nirob, Riafat, and Arafat—were detained after their surrender, said Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station.
They were later taken to the RAB 10 headquarters for questioning.

Police and local residents on Thursday locked a group of suspected robbers inside a branch of Rupali Bank at Chunkutia in south Keraniganj, Dhaka.

Police arrest 5 suspects who committed robbery posing as RAB in Dhaka
Police arrested five operatives of an organized gang, who allegedly committed a robbery posing as members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Dhaka’s Kakrail area on December 4, from several areas of Dhaka on Thursday.
Besides, a microbus and eight mobile phones used during the robbery were seized.
The arrestees included Mohammad Sajjad Hossain, 35, Mohammad Kabir Hossain, 50, Mohammad Sharif, 25, Mohammad Monir Hossain, 40, and, Mohammad Habibur Khandakar, 38, said a media release sent from Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
According to a case statement, one Saiful Islam, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the Trasmil Company Limited in Demra, was carrying an amount of Tk 26 lakh inside a school bag, which he had withdrawn from a gold jewelry shop in Tantibazar.
On the afternoon of December 4, Saiful boarded a bus from Bangshal Chaurasta, intending to go to his house in Badda.
As the bus stopped at a traffic signal near Kakrail in Ramna, 10-12 people boarded the bus and identified themselves as members of RAB. One of them was wearing a RAB-branded jacket and had handcuffs and a wireless set in his possession.

The gang told passengers that a suspect in a case was traveling on the bus. They pointed to Saiful Islam and forcibly dragged him off the bus, and made him get into a white microbus they were using for the robbery, according to the statement.
After robbing him, they blindfolded him, bound his hands, and left him on the road in Demra.
The victim, Saiful Islam, filed a robbery case at the Ramna Model Thana on December 11, based on which the police launched an investigation.
Further investigation, including the analysis of CCTV footage and intelligence gathering, led the police to seize the microbus used in the robbery on Thursday from the ECB Square area in the Cantonment area of Dhaka. The driver, Mohammad Kabir Hossain, was arrested.
Based on his information, a raid was conducted at 1:40pm in front of Al Razzak Hotel in Bangshal, leading to the arrest of four more gang members: Sajjad, Sharif, Monir, and Habibur. Eight mobile phones, used in the robbery, were recovered from their possession.
During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that the arrested individuals were active members of a well-organized inter-district robbery gang. They used the identity of law enforcement agencies to carry out robberies across Dhaka and surrounding districts, following a strict chain of command.

They addressed their leaders as “Sir” and distributed the loot according to pre-arranged shares. The gang consists of around 10-12 members, each playing specific roles in the execution of robberies.
The arrested suspects were sent to court, and the investigation into the case continues. Efforts to recover other stolen goods and arrest remaining gang members are ongoing.
