Sacrificial animal waste to be removed within 12 hrs: Atiqul
The waste of sacrificial animals will be removed from the streets of Dhaka city within 12 hours, said Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Tuesday.
“The city corporation workers are cleaning waste every day and I think 12 hours are enough to remove waste of sacrificial animals,” he said while talking to reporters after a meeting in the city’s Gulshan area.
"We have enough manpower and the Eid vacation of the staff and employees has been cancelled for removing waste soon", he said.
Mentioning that there are some designated places in the city to sacrifice animals, Atiqul urged people to assist them to clean the city within 12 hours.
He also directed the councilors and department concerned to ensure health guidelines in the cattle market strictly. ‘No one will be allowed to enter the cattle market without a mask and all should follow health guidelines.”
Besides, digital payment booths have been installed in six cattle markets with 24-hour service under DNCC in a bid to transfer money easily, he said.

Vaccine certificate must for getting DNCC services: Atiq
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Thursday said that the services of DNCC will not be available from March 1 if there is no certificate of Covid-19 vaccine.
He said this while inaugurating the mass vaccination program on Thursday morning.
Atiqul also directed the officials to keep the office open on Friday for the mass vaccination drive.
"We must get vaccinated to protect ourselves from coronavirus,” he added.

Traffic offenders await tougher action: Mayor Atiqul
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Sunday said strict action will be taken against those who will violate traffic rules. “Vehicles should move on the streets following rules. Or else, stern action will be taken against those offenders,” he said while speaking at the inauguration programme of ‘Dhaka Nagar Paribahan’ at Mohammadpur bus depot. The government has fixed the bus fare at Tk 2.15 per kilometer for Dhaka Nagar Paribahan bus service on the 28-km Ghatarchar-Mohammadpur-Gulistan-Motijheel-Sighboard-Kanchpur bridge route, he said.

10 cattle markets to be set up maintaining health rules: DNCC Mayor
Dhaka North City Corporation will set up 10 cattle markets in its area ahead of Eid-ul-Azha maintaining Covid health rules and government restrictions, Mayor Atiqul Islam said Sunday.
The mayor said this while attending a meeting with the sacrificial animal haat monitoring committee and lease holders of the haats.
Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, one permanent and nine makeshift haats will be set up in the DNCC area, he said.

To monitor the 10 haats, a 14-member committee has already been formed including 12 councillors, 2 veterinary officers, where ward-19 councillor Md Mofizur Rahman was made the convener, he added.
Atiqul Islam said, in every haat, 100 volunteers will be appointed from the Shakti Foundation with enough surgical masks while leaseholders will ensure hand sanitizers and necessary hygiene materials in every haat.
Enough number of body temperature measuring machines will be made available at the haats, he said.

Traders and buyers all will have to maintain social distance and health rules in the haat as the area will be under surveillance by CCTV cameras, said the mayor.
The DNCC mayor said, sacrificial animals brought in the haats will also be available online for customers to see.

Atiqul warns of legal action if shops are kept open
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Monday warned that legal action including revoking of liscence will be taken if anyone keeps shop open violating the government directives.
“The shopping mall and shop owners should abide by the government instructions,” said the DNCC mayor while visiting Bijoy Sarani area of the capital.
The DNCC has taken various welfare activities during the Covid-19 pandemic, he said.

The emergency food service of the government is active and destitute people can seek food assistance by making a call @ 333, said the mayor.
“We have to follow the health guidelines to make our family, city and country safe,” said Atikul.
Besides, he also assured of taking necessary steps to activate the fountains under DNCC in the city.

Moreover, DNCC dwellers can log complaints or provide their opinions about roads, mosquitoes, street lamp, dumping station, waterlogging, public toilet and illegal establishment by an app named ‘Shobar Dhaka’ to get quick solution to the problems, he said.

No trade license for buildings without fire safety: DNCC Mayor
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will not provide trade license or holding numbers to the buildings which will not install separate fire safety system from now on, declared Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam on Sunday.
The Mayor came up with the remarks while attending a virtual discussion programme organized by the Save the Children.

More than 40 organisations are working to reduce risk factors and for disaster management in the capital which is one of the most densely populated metropolitan cities of the world, Atiqul said.
Stating that “Evidently necessity of cooperation between these organisations in risk management is undoubtedly great”, the mayor assured of providing necessary assistance as per the capability of DNCC.
