The US has said ensuring young women's equal access to education is central to gender equality.
Women and girls have the right to learn, innovate, compete, and succeed in the global economy, it added.
The US is working to make this vision a reality through its Global Women's Economic Security strategy.
From January 21 to 22, US Senior Official to the Secretary of State in the Office of Global Women's Issues Kat Fotovat participated in the 10th Commencement Ceremony of the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chattogram where she delivered remarks and met with students and faculty.

Women continue making amazing contributions in STEM fields: US
US Deputy Chief of Mission JoAnne Wagner has joined local STEM educators and students to inaugurate the 2021 “STEM Olympiad for Girls” competition and a discussion programme to encourage young women and girls to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineer, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
During the two-day virtual event, funded by the Embassy’s Public Affairs Section and in partnership with RoboLab, more than 200 middle school, high school, and undergraduate students from all eight divisions completed STEM challenges and quizzes, participated in mentor discussions with female Bangladeshi scientists and engineers, and celebrated their achievements in an awards ceremony held recently.

US Embassy to remain closed for routine US citizen services during lockdown
The US Embassy in Dhaka has reminded all US citizens to practice sound personal security measures which include following the laws of Bangladesh and local government decisions; and to always carry a fully charged work or personal cell phone.
The US Embassy said it will remain closed for routine US citizen services from Wednesday for the duration of the lockdown.
All US citizen services appointments already scheduled for the week will be rescheduled, said the Embassy.

In the event of an immediate need for service or an emergency, the US citizens have been requested to email ([email protected]) for an emergency appointment.
The Embassy will reopen US citizen services appointments after the lockdown is lifted.
The government of Bangladesh announced a continuation of the countrywide lockdown from April 14 to 21 to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) also announced a weeklong suspension of all international passenger flights to and from Bangladesh beginning April 14.
