2 bodies recovered from separate places in Bagerhat
Two bodies were recovered from separate places in Bagerhet on Tuesday.
Police recovered the body of a fisherman named Eskandar Sheikh, 65, from the Panighat area of Chitra River in Bagerhat Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning, five days after he went missing.

Eskandar hailed from Tasir Uddin Sheikh of Bara Singharam village in Bishnupur union of Bagerhat Sadar upazila.
Bagerhat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saidur Rahman said, being informed by the locals, police recovered Eskandar’s body from the Chitra River. The body was sent to Bagerhat District Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Shamsuddin, officer-in-charge of Morrelganj Police Station, said Parvin’s body was found lying on the floor beside her bed. No injury marks were found on the body.
The body was sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy. A GD has been filed and police are investigating the death, said the OC.

Body parts of a man found inside a luggage in Chattogram:Police
Police said on Friday they recovered a decapitated body of a man from inside a luggage at Chattogram’s Patenga area.
The mutilated body was recovered from the luggage laying inside a bush in ghat no 12 of Patenga on Thursday night, police said.
Police constable dies after falling off building in Chattogram
The identity of the deceased has yet to be ascertained.
Police suspect that the victim was murdered at a different location, dismembered, and concealed in the luggage before being transported here. An investigation into this matter has been initiated by the police.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga Police Station Mohammad Aftab Hossain, said a decapitated body was found inside the luggage.
The body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy, he added.

The OC further informed that the luggage was found in a narrow alley. From the luggage, the police also recovered the shirt and lungi (sarong) of the deceased person.
“We have initiated legal proceedings in this regard,” said the OC.

Woman found hanging in Sirajganj
Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from Dattabari Madhyapara village in Sirajganj sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased was Farzana Khatun,18, wife of Md Ratan of the village.

Md Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj sadar police station said locals found the body hanging from the ceiling at her house and informed the police.
Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Sirajganj Bangamata SheikhFajilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital morgue for post mortem.

The reason of her death will be known once the post mortem report is received, he added.
A case was filed in this regard.
Swapna Begum, mother of the deceased, said her daughter got married to Ratan, a weaver by profession, two years ago.

“Everything was fine. Torture of Farzana started when sister-in-law came home from Dhaka. Farzana used to say that she was threatened with death,” she said.
She claimed that her daughter was killed and hanged.

Narail boat capsize: Death toll rises to 4
The death toll from the boat capsize in the Nabaganga River in Narail rose to four with the recovery of two bodies Sunday noon.
Two people drowned and five others went missing after their boat capsized in the river off the coast of Kalia upazila on Friday night.
The bodies of Labu, 32, son of Tuku Chowkidar of Babupur village, and Khanze Sheikh, 55, son of Matiar Sheikh of Jokar Char village, were recovered today.
Fire service divers fished out the bodies from the Nabaganga River in Kalia upazila, said Sheikh Tasmeem Alam, office-in-charge (OC) of Kalia police station.

“The bodies were handed over to the Naval Police. They will take necessary legal steps,” said OC Tasmeem.
Efforts are on to find the others who went missing after the accident, he added.
The boat with 17 people on board capsized around 8:30 pm while heading towards Bahirdanga from Baghbari of Kalia municipality. Ten of them managed to swim to ashore.

Missing madrasa student found dead in Bagerhat
Bagerhat, Nov 07 (UNB)-Police recovered the body of a madrasa student in Kochua upazila of Bagherhat district on Sunday morning, two days after he had gone missing.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 25, son of Monir Sheikh of Tengrakhali village and a student of Madhobkathi Madrasa in the localily.

Quoting family members, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kochua Police Station Iqbal Hossain said Mehedi went missing on Friday evening.
Local people spotted the body in a ditch in a banana orchard of Tengrakhali village and informed police.
Several injury marks were found on the victim’s body.

However, the reason behind the killing could not be known yet.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.

UP member found dead in Natore
Natore, Nov 6 (UNB) -- A 50-year-old local union parishad member was found dead in a house in Mashpur of Natore's Lalpur upazila Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Motiur Rahman Moti, a member of ward no 5 of the upazila's Duaria union.
Fazlur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Lalpur police station, said Motiur's body was found on the premises of the house of Shahida Begum, a former UP member.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the local hospital morgue for an autopsy. "The reason behind his death will be clear after the autopsy," the OC said.

Dismembered body of principal found in Savar
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Monday recovered the dismembered body of the principal of Ashulia Residential School and College, who remained missing for almost a month, from Savar and Ashkona in the city's Dakkhin Khan area.
Rab also arrested three persons in connection with the murder of 36-year-old Principal Mintu Chandra Barman.
The arrestees were identified as Rabiul Islam and Motaleb—two founding members of the school and Rahim Badsha, nephew of Rabiul.

Mintu Barman, son of Sharat Barman of Hatibandha upazila on Lalmonirhat district, along with Motaleb, Shamsuzzaman and Rabiul Islam had established the school after renting a building at Jamgara Beron area in Savar two years back.
Since then Mintu has been holding the post of principal and used to live at the adjacent building of the school on rent.
On July 13, Mintu went missing and did not return home. Dipak Chandra Barman, younger brother of Mintu lodged a general diary at Ashulia Police Station on July 22, said Commanding officer of Rab-4, Lieutenant Rakib Mahmud Khan.
During investigation, the elite force detained Rabiul, Motaleb and Badsha and following the confessional statement by them, Rab recovered the body of Mintu.
Mintu was killed at the school following an enmity over the ownership of the school and his body has been cut into six pieces.

The arrestees covered the five parts of the body in the school field while the head on the water body in the Ashkona area, said Rab.

Woman doctor found dead at Kalabagan flat, police suspect murder
Police on Monday recovered the body of a female physician from a flat in the city’s Kalabagan with an officer suspecting it may be a case of murder.
The victim was identified as Dr Sabira Rahman, wife of a private bank official Shamsuddin Azad.
Primarily, it seems that it is an incident of murder, OC Kalabagan police station Paritosh Chandra said.
The husband also claimed that his wife was killed.
Dr Sabira worked in the radiology department of Green Life Hospital in Dhanmondi.
Quoting neighbours, police said Dr Sabira shared the flat with another woman named Kaniz Subarna .Her husband Azad lives at Shantinagar.
Officer-in-charge of Kalabagan Police Station Paritosh Chandra told UNB that being informed, a team of the police went to the flat at around10:30 am and recovered the body from inside her room.
Kaniz Subrina, who completed LLB from World University, told Police that she went out on morning walk along Dhanmondi lake at around 6:10 am.
On return to the flat she smelt smoke was coming out from Dr Sabira’s room. As her room was locked from inside, she informed the matter to gatekeeper of the building, said the OC Kalabagan adding that they finally entered the room breaking the lock of the door.
The body of the deceased bored four injury marks at her backside, with a big one on her neck.
A CID crime team collected evidence from the spot. The detective Branch of the DMP detained four people, including Kaniz Subrina, one of her friends and the gatekeeper, for interrogation, he said.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post mortem.
Azad went to the Kalabagan flat after learning about the tragedy. He claimed that his wife was murdered. “My wife has been killed. There is no doubt here,” he added.

Mystery shrouds death of a DU student
Dhaka University students are in shock as the dead body of their fellowman, who went missing over a week ago, was found at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue on Sunday.
Hafizur Rahman, 24, a student of Information Science and Library Management Department (2015-16) of the university, went missing on May 15, a day after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Habibur Rahman, elder brother of the victim, identified the body at the morgue on Sunday evening.

Officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station, Mamun ur Rashid said, "Around 8:30 pm on Saturday, we received information that a young man had stabbed himself repeatedly in the neck near Shaheed Minar."
"Later, police went to the spot and took him to DMCH where doctors declared him dead. There was nothing to identify him. Police later registered a case. If his family accuses anyone now, we’ll launch an investigation," the OC said.
The body of Hafizur, also the general secretary of DU Mime Action, a cultural organisation, was handed over to the family on Sunday as they identified it, the OC added.
According to his family members, Hafizur came to Dhaka from his village home in Brahmanbaria a day after the Eid.
He informed his family about his arrival over the phone but his phone was found switched off since then, the OC said.
As his family failed to trace him after their hectic search, they filed a general diary (GD) with Kasba police station in Brahmanbaria. Later, the news of his disappearance was reported to the Shahbagh Police Station.

On information, Shahbagh police contacted the family after suspecting that the body kept in the morgue could be of Hafizur.
Hafizur's elder brother Habibur Rahman then went to Shahbagh Police Station and identified the body at the DMCH morgue.
Meanwhile, many of Hafizur’s friends and DU students expressed their deep shock in social media like Facebook at the sudden death of their fellowman and demanded a proper investigation into the matter.
