The Bangladesh Army saw a reshuffle in several key positions on Sunday. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), Lt Gen Md Mainur Rahman, has been appointed Chief of General Staff of Bangladesh Army, according to the Ministry of Defence. The current Director General of DGFI, Major General Mohammad Jahangir Alam, has been posted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an ambassador. Meanwhile, Brigadier General Mohammad Kaiser Rashid Chowdhury of the M and Q Directorate has been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Director General of DGFI. GOC of the 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen Mir Mushfiqur Rahman has been appointed Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division. Army Chief meets Chief Adviser Prof Yunus The incumbent PSO, Lt Gen SM Kamrul Hassan, has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an ambassador. Meanwhile, Major General J M Emdadul Islam has been transferred from the 55 Infantry Division to the East Bengal Regimental Centre. Major General Ferdous Hasan Salim, Commandant of the East Bengal Regimental Centre, has been appointed GOC of the 24 Infantry Division. Brigadier General Md Hafizur Rahman, currently serving at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, has been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed GOC of the 55 Infantry Division.

In another shake-up within the police force, 28 officers holding the ranks of Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) have been transferred to different units. This order was issued on Tuesday. According to the directive, 25 Additional Superintendents of Police and three Assistant Superintendents of Police have been transferred. This follows a previous notice on November 11, from the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which announced the transfer and attachment of 64 officers of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Additional Deputy Inspector General (Addl. DIG), and Superintendent of Police (SP) ranks. Read: Police administration undergoes major reshuffle In one of the notifications, one DIG, eight Addl. DIGs, and 39 SPs were transferred to different units. Another notice saysthat one DIG, five Addl. DIGs, and ten SPs were withdrawn from their current assignments and attached to various units. These reassignments aim to enhance operational efficiency and address organisational needs within the Bangladesh Police.

Election Commission Secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker has been made the new secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, cancelling Secretary of Industries Ministry Zakia Sultana’s transfer to this ministry. The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday. According to a gazette notification issued on October 27, Secretary of Industries Ministry Zakia Sultana was transferred to the Information Ministry while EC secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker was transferred to the Ministry of Industries. Meanwhile, chief executive officer (secretary) of Public Private Partnership Authority Muhammad Ibrahim has been transferred to the local government and engineering division (LGRD) as secretary, as of today’s notification. Technical and Madrasa Education Board Secretary Md Kamal Hossain was earlier transferred to the LGRD as secretary, as of October 31 notification. Besides, director general of Islamic Foundation (Additional Secretary) Md Mushfiqur Rahman has been promoted to the rank of secretary at Public Private Partnership Authority as the chief executive officer (secretary), reads a separate notification issued today (Tuesday).

Three engineers of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have been transferred in the latest reshuffle.

Director General (additional secretary) of the Department of Disaster Management Md Mohsin has been made secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
