Chanchal Chowdhury’s father passes away
Popular actor-singer Chanchal Chowdhury lost his father Radha Govinda Chowdhury on Tuesday night at a city hospital. He was 90.
The acclaimed actor’s father breathed his last at 7:50 pm at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Green Life hospital in the capital.Actress and Chanchal Chowdhury’s friend Shahnaz Khushi confirmed this on her Facebook profile on Tuesday night.

His last rites will take place at the hometown of Chanchal Chowdhury in Kamarhat of Sujanagar upazila, Pabna on Wednesday.Radha Govinda Chowdhury was admitted to the hospital due to old-age complications. He was taken to the ICU after his health deteriorated.
Mentioning his father’s illness, Chanchal Chowdhury wrote on his Facebook profile on December 25: “For 13 days now, my father has been in the ICU on life support. We are just counting the days now.”

BSMMC ICU in Faridpur suffer from shortage of doctors
Authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College (BSMMC) hospital in Faridpur have been struggling with the increasing number of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The number of doctors assigned for the unit is far from enough and no new recruitment has been made since the ICU was established in 2016, hospital authorities said.
Visiting the hospital, the UNB correspondent found all the first-class posts for the 16-bed advanced ICU to be vacant.

The ICU unit should have had one assistant professor, two junior consultants, two assistant registrars and two medical officers as per the rules but only Ananta Kumar Biswas, Assistant Professor of Anesthesia department, was made in-charge of the ICU as an additional responsibility.

DNCC Market Hospital to get 200 new ICU beds: Health Minister
Two hundred Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 1000 new isolation beds will be added in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Market Hospital within a short time, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Tuesday.
The minister came up with the information after sighting the new beds installation progress at the hospital in Mohakhali area in the afternoon.
The installation of new ICU beds was announced as the country witnessed record-breaking daily Covid-19 fatalities and infections with 66 deaths and 7,213 cases during the last 24 hours till Tuesday.

More than 7,000 new Coronavirus cases were recorded for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, according to a handout issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The new beds will be inaugurated within the next two weeks, the minister hoped.
“No matter how many new beds are installed, Coronavirus won’t be controlled if people neglect the health guidelines,” he said.

In many places people are creating agitation seeking withdrawal of lockdown, Maleque said, adding that in the present moment lockdown was mandatory so the government decided for it.
“The government will withdraw it in right time, if we don’t maintain the government directive now, Covid-19 infection and fatalities both might go beyond any control in the future,” the health minister added.

Sahara Khatun’s health condition worsens, taken to ICU
Former Home Minister and Awami League presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of United Hospital following deterioration of her condition.
Advocate Anisur Rahman, personal secretary to the ex-minister, confirmed UNB on Friday.
Sahara Khatun was admitted to the hospital on June 2 with fever and some old age complications. She was shifted to the ICU of the hospital as her health condition worsened, Anisur said.
