The Border Security Force (BSF) of India took back six men into Indian territory late Thursday after failing to push them into Bangladesh through the Ramdaspur border in Gomostapur upazila. The six men were taken back at around 10:45pm, said Lt Col Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commander of Naogaon 16 BGB Battalion. Earlier around 6:30am, personnel of the Shamshernagar BSF Camp under India's 12 BSF Battalion attempted to push the six men into Bangladesh through an area near Border Pillar No. 216. A patrol team of the Ramdaspur Border Outpost under the Naogaon BGB Battalion noticed the attempt and prevented the push-in. The men then remained on the Indian side of the zero line, around 150 yards inside India. By late Thursday night, no movement or presence of the six men was observed in the area, the BGB commander said. He said the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was closely monitoring the situation and maintaining heightened vigilance along the border.  

A 30-year-old Bangladeshi man has been injured in firing by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Telkupi border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district. The injured man, identified as Habil, 30, son of Belal from Mollatola village in Shahbazpur Union, is currently undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. BGB 59 Battalion Commander Lt Col Golam Kibria said  BSF personnel opened fire around 3:30am on Friday when a group of six to seven smugglers tried to cross the border, leaving Habil injured. Habil’s companions managed to rescue him and bring him back to Bangladesh. Dr Kausar Hasan, an emergency department physician at Chapainawabganj district hospital, said Habil was admitted to the hospital around 7am on Saturday where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest.

A Bangladeshi fisherman was injured in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Polladanga border region in Chapainawabganj's Bholahat upazila. The injured is Jahangir Alam, 24, a resident of Kolonipara village of Gohalbari union. According to locals, Jahangir was fishing on a boat in the Mahananda River along the Polladanga border region at around 4:30 am on Saturday (February 17, 2024). At that time, BSF fired at him, and his right hand was shot. BSF detains 23 Bangladeshis along Chhagalnaiya border in Feni The locals then rescued him and rushed him to the Upazila health complex. Dr Delwar Hossain, duty medical officer of Bholahat Upazila Health Complex, said Jahangir was brought to the hospital with a bullet injury to his right elbow. Later, he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment. BSF regrets recent border killing, says Foreign Ministry Lt Col Golam Kibria, commanding officer of the BGB-59 battalion in Chapainawabganj, said members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on Jahangir when he went near the Indian territory while he was fishing.
