A 12-year-old schoolboy died from electrocution while cutting a branch of a tree  at Gorosthanpara in Kurigram municipality on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Pushanto, a class IV student of a local primary school and son of Porosh of the area. Three people including a man and his nephew died after being electrocuted in Sherpur upazila of Bogura district on Monday morning. The victims are Budu Chandra Bhuiyan(65), his nephew Palash Chandra Bhuiyan (35) and their neighbor Khitish Chandra Bhuiyan (30). The wire was connected to an illegally established temporary electric line for an adjacent Durga Puja temple, they added. Palash, Khitish and four others  got electrocuted too when they tried to save Budu. Among the survivors, a man named Rubel Chandra Bhuiyan is still undergoing treatment at the medical facility while the remaining two were sent home after giving first aid, said Sherpur police station Officer-in charge  Shahidul Islam.

Three persons have died of electrocution in two separate incidents in Chapainawabganj, police said Friday. The deceased were identified as Shimul, 25, son of late Sabuddin of the Namo Jagannathpur Fuldia area of Durlavpur union, his relative Samnur Begum, 65,  and Abdul Malek, 26, son of Abdul Majid of the Dublibhandar area in Chokokirti union. Read:Argentina fan electrocuted while hoisting flag in Gaibandha Locals said Shimul and Samnur Begum were coming to Dadanchak by boat from Fuldia ghat of the Padma river in Namo Jagannathpur around 7pm on Thursday.  As the water level in the river rose, the duo came in contact with the rural power lines hanging over the river and died of electrocution. Being informed, firemen and police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their family members. On the other hand, Abdul Malek was electrocuted while fixing an electric wire in his house in the Dublibhandar area of Chokokirti union around the same time. Farid Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shibganj police station, said the body was handed over to the family later in the night as there was no complaint from the family.

An accused in a narcotics case died at Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station on Monday night.   The deceased was identified as Afsar Ali, 35, son of Mohsin Ali, of Tikrampur, in Chapainawabganj Municipality.   Mahbub Alam Khan, additional superintendent of C’nawabganj Police, said “Ali took an electric wire of a fan at the jail and hanged himself from the fan at 7:20pm shortly after he was brought to the police station for remand.”   After seeing him through a Close Circuit Camera, police immediately took him to Sadar Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, the ASP added.   According to police, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested Ali with 1.195kg heroin from Bagdanga area in Sadar upazila Sunday noon and handed him over to police.   A court put him on a one- day remand although police sought a five-day remand after producing  him before the court on the day after he was arrested with drugs.   Additional District Magistrate Jakiul Islam visited the spot on Monday night and told journalists that he will go to see the body on Tuesday.   “The reason of the death will be informed later,” he said.
