Passenger suffers burn injuries as bus set on fire in Dhaka’s Khilgaon
A passenger suffered burn injuries after miscreants set a bus on fire at Meradia area of Dhaka’s Khilgaon.
The injured was identified as Md Sabuj, 30, a resident of Merul Badda. He was admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with critical burn injuries.
The arson attack took place around 7:30am at Bashpattali area of Meradia this morning (November 05, 2023).
Sabuj’s wife Rushda said that her husband is a transport worker. He is a driver of a ‘Ramjan Paribahan’ bus. His bus was parked on the side of the road in Meradia area.

He left home in the morning to go to work and boarded a bus of ‘Acchim Paribahan’. When he was about to get off the bus in Meradia area, it was set on fire, his wife said.
Later, Sabuj was taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with serious burn injuries.
Tariqul Islam, a resident doctor at the burn institute, said Sabuj suffered 28 percent burn injuries and his respiratory tract were damaged.
Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the incident.
Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, said the fire was doused by locals before fire service units reached the spot.

Auto-rickshaw driver stabbed by muggers in Dhaka's Khilgaon dies
A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, who was stabbed by muggers in Dhaka's Khilgaon Sunday, died at a hospital in the early hours of Monday, police said.
Mamun Howlader, 48, was from Mehendiganj upazila, Barishal, and lived in a rented house with his family in Kamrangir Char, Dhaka.
"The incident occurred Sunday afternoon. The critically injured Mamun was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and he succumbed to his injuries at 4:05am today," Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said.

"The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy," he added.
Mamun's nephew Arif Hossain said his uncle was attacked as he was having tea after completing a trip to Khilgaon's Taltola.
At this time, some muggers tried to snatch his auto-rickshaw keys. As Mamun resisted he was stabbed repeatedly.

As the auto-rickshaw driver screamed for help, locals rushed there and caught one of the attackers and handed him over to police, Arif said.

Trader dies after being hit by freight train at Khilgaon
A trader was killed being hit by a freight train on Khilgaon level crossing in Dhaka on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Elias Mahmud,47, a resident of Basabo area. He had a business of lighting signboard.
Witnesses said he fell down when The Kamalapur Railway Station- bound freight train hit him while he was passing the level crossing.

Elias’s legs got detached and he jsustained severe head injuries, said sub-inspector of Kamalapur railway police station Shahjahan.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead around 12 pm.
