15 inured in Cox’s Bazar gunfight
At least fifteen people were injured in a gunfight at Kuliapara of Khuruskul union in Cox's Bazar on Friday noon.
Locals said that the two groups, one led by Faruk, and another by Rashed, had a longstanding dispute over a piece of land.
After Juma prayer, an altercation broke out over the matter between them that resulted in the clash, leaving at least fifteen people wounded.
At one stage of the altercation, Rashed's brother Abu Sufian and Manzoor's nephew Babu opened fire, alleged Faruk. “Fifteen people, including Faruk, were injured in the firing,” he added.
Later, they were rushed to Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital. Of them, one named Iftadul, has been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as his condition worsened.

The injured people were being treated at the hospital, said Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital Resident Medical Officer Ashikur Rahman. Among the injured, six people are in critical condition, Rahman added.
On information, a team of police was sent to the spot in the evening, said Sheikh Munir Ul Gias, officer-in-charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police.
Further action will be taken after the investigation, the OC added.

Drug peddler killed in Cox’s Bazar gunfight
A suspected drug peddler was killed in a gunfight with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Md Mamun, 23, son of Abu Siddique of Meena Bazar of the upazila.
Commanding officer of BGB-2 Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Foysal Hasan said acting on a tip about drug smuggling, BGB members took position at Sluice Gate-7 area of the Naf River adjacent to Meena Bazaar and Nayabazar in Teknaf.
At one stage, the criminals opened fire on the BGB men when they challenged the smugglers, leaving two BGB members injured, and forcing them to fire back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.
After the gunfight, the BGB team found one of the smugglers with bullet wounds and sent him to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.
BGB members also recovered one lakh Yaba pills and a gun from the spot.
The body has been kept at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the BGB official said.
A case will be filed in this regard, he added.

Two brothers killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’
Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police on Friday morning in Chwakbazar area in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The deceased are- Md Faruk, 37, and Ajadul Haque, 24, sons of Aminul Haque of Chandanaish area in Chattogram.
