HC issues rule over uniform Shaheed Minar
The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking why direction will not be given to form specific guidelines to build all Shaheed Minar at home and abroad with similar dimensions to the central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.
The rule also asked to know why the inactiveness of the concerned authorities to build uniform Shaheed Minars across the globe should not be declared illegal.
The bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil issued the rule after a hearing of a petition filed by lawyer Md Shahidul Islam who stood for the writ.

The Cultural Ministry secretary and Housing and Public Works secretary have been made the respondents to the rule.
They will have to submit the answers within four weeks.
Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy represented the state.
Supreme Court lawyer Shahidul Islam filed the writ on February 24, 2022.

HC wants to know steps taken to manage medical wastes
The High Court on Suday asked the government about steps taken in implementing Medical Waste Management and Processing Rules 2008.
A virtual bench of Justice JBM Hasan passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed in the form of public litigation.
The secretary of the forest and environment ministry has been asked to submit the report to the court by August 10.
At the same time, the court has fixed August 12 for the next order.
Barrister Mohammad Humayun Pallab appeared for the writ petitioners and he was assisted by Barrister Mohammad Kawsar while Deputy Attorney General Debashish Bhattacharya and Assistant Attorney General Mohammad Saiful Alam represented the state.
Environment researcher Dr Anika Ali and Barrister Pallab filed the writ petition with the concerned bench of the High Court on July 14 on behalf of the human rights organisation Law and Life Foundation.
