TK Group’s super board manufacturing factory catches fire in Munshiganj
A fire broke out in a super board manufacturing factory of TK Group in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj on Sunday (March 24, 2024) afternoon.
Talhan Bin Zasim, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD-media cell) headquarters, said the fire began in the board factory in Jamaldi area around 1: 10 pm.

On information, ten firefighting units rushed to the spot and were trying to tame the flame, he said.
The origin of the fire could not be known immediately, he added.

Arrest warrant issued against City Group chairman
A Chattogram court Thursday issued an arrest warrant against Fazlur Rahman, chair of City Group, in a case filed in 2019 by the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
Fourth Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Shariful Islam gave the order after framing charges in the case, Advocate Ashraf Khandaker, public prosecutor for the BSTI, told UNB.
BSTI filed the case on October 20, 2019, claiming the Vitamin A content in City Group's edible oil brand "Teer" fell short of what the company advertised.
The BSTI examines the quality of edible oils refined and marketed in Bangladesh in line with the Vitamin A Enrichment in Edible Oil Act 2013.
According to the Vitamin A Enrichment Act 2013, no edible oil can be sold, stored, supplied, marketed, or commercialised without vitamin A enrichment.

Ashraf said after the case was filed, Fazlur was summoned by the court but he failed to appear.
"The City Group chair was later granted bail by the High Court. He used to extend the time from the lower court without appearing before the court physically. As he did not appear before the court, the magistrate issued the arrest warrant in the case," he added.

Fire at Demra plastic warehouse brought under control
A fire has broken out at a plastic warehouse in the capital’s Demra on Monday night.According to Fire Service sources, the fire broke out at a warehouse of City Group in Demra’s Konabari at around 9.12 pm.

After almost two hours of trying, 11 firefighting units managed to bring the fire under control at around 11.20 pm.No casualties have been reported yet, the sources said.

Teer 22nd Asian Archery Championship begins on Nov 13
Teer 22nd Asian Archery Championship’ 2021, organized by Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF), begins here on November 13 at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani.
Some 131 archers including 53 women’s from 17 counties will compete in ten events of the week-long meet, sponsored by City Group (Teer).
BAF President Lt Gen M Moinul Islam (retd) disclosed the details of the meet at a press conference cum logo unveiling ceremony of the championship at a local hotel on Saturday.

BAF vice president and Director of the meet’s sponsor City Group (Teer) Mohammad Hasan, general secretary Kazi Razibuddin Ahmed Chapal and Executive Director of City Group Zafaruddin Siddiqui were also present on the occasion.
Participating countries are: India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan,
Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Syria, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yeman and hosts Bangladesh.

Ten events are —recurve men’s team, recurve women’s team. recurve men’s singles, recurve women’s singles, recurve mixed team, compound men’s team, compound women;s team, compound men’s singles, compound women’s singles and compound mixed team.
Fifteen Bangladeshi arhers including seven women’s will compete in the prestigious meet.
The Congress of World Archery Asia’ 2021 will be held on November 12 at the Sheraton Dhaka in Banani.
President of World Archery Asia and chairman of the Hyundai Group Euisun Chung will present in the congress.
