Senior Secretary Tofazzel Hossain Miah has been made the new Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, replacing Ahmad Kaikaus. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday, saying that Tofazzel has been transferred from his earlier position. In a separate gazette, the ministry said that Kaikaus has been appointed as an Alternative Executive Director at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington on a contractual basis for three years. Read: Tofazzel made PMO Secretary The ministry made the change as the tenure of Kaikaus as Principal Secretary will expire on December 9. Prior to becoming the Principal Secretary, Tofazzel acted as Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office since January, 2021. He was promoted to Senior Secretary on 29 December, 2021.

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has resumed the online transfer system of the assistant teachers of the government primary schools after closure for long days. State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain resumed the online transfer system at an event at his ministry on Wednesday. Primary and Mass Education Ministry Senior secretary Aminul Islam Khan and Directorate General of Primary Education Mohibur Rahman, among others, spoke. On the first day, online transfers were made at 18 primary schools in Kaliakair of Gazipur on pilot basis.  The transfer system will be completed through software developed by the ministry.   The online transfer system was introduced to make the transfer of primary school teachers easy and hassle-free. However, the implementation of the programme  was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On June 30 this year, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque inaugurated the pilot programme of the system in Gazipur. Teachers who have applied till July 15, 2022 will be included under the pilot programme. After completion of the pilot programme, online transfer of primary teachers will be started across the country. President Joe Biden approved a $100 million transfer of Javelin anti-armor missiles to Ukraine on Tuesday, according to an administration official. The transfer brings the total of U.S. military assistance for Ukraine to $2.4 billion since Biden took office last January. Also Read: White House: US, allies to ban new investments in Russia The White House announced late Tuesday that Biden approved the assistance, which is funded as part of a broader $13.6 billion in aid for Ukraine approved by Congress last month after Russia’s invasion. The administration official confirmed that it was for a transfer of the Javelin missiles, which have been requested by the Ukrainian military to combat Russian armor.
