Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has expressed displeasure over the developed countries which have been sheltering self-confessed, convicted killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.“You (developed countries) are not allowing them (convicted killers) to face justice because you have the power. It is very unfair,” he said, describing the barriers created by those countries.Without mentioning any specific country, Momen said "they'' always recommend rule of law and good governance but they are sheltering killers.

Fugitive killers of Bangabandhu will be brought back soon: Kamal
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, many people involved in the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have been brought under the law.
Now rest of the killers, who are outside the country will be brought back soon, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday.
"We will bring back all the killers of Bangabandhu wherever they are," he said.
The minister said this on the first day of the 6-day programme on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 47th martyrdom anniversary organized by the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Chittagong Metropolitan and District Unit on Friday afternoon.
On August 15, the ugliest attempt was made to kill all the family members of Bangabandhu, because they knew very well that if any of those who had Bangabandhu's blood in their veins survived, the murderers would be judged one day", added the minister
He also said that the freedom fighters responded to Bangabandhu's call with infinite courage and Bangabandhu's daughter rewarded them for that sacrifice. The government is providing various facilities including allowances to freedom fighters.

Meanwhile, Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shirin Akter, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Krishnapad Roy, Chittagong Range DIG Anwar Hossain, Chittagong District Commissioner Mominur Rahman and Chittagong Superintendent of Police Rashedul Haque were also present on the occasion.

Zia initiated culture of impunity through indemnity against Bangabandhu's killers: Joy
Lamenting the disgraceful inclusion of the indemnity of Bangabandhu's killers in the fifth amendment to the constitution, Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy has termed it as the beginning of the culture of impunity.
"Today is notorious July 9. On this day in 1979, this indemnity act against humanity was passed in the parliament, initiating the culture of impunity in the country," wrote Joy from his verified Facebook account.
Following the darkest chapter in independent Bangladesh, the assassination of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family on August 15, 1975, the indemnity ordinance was introduced on September 26 in the same year, paving the path for Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad to take over with the help of Bangabandhu's killers, he added.

According to the indemnity ordinance, no one involved in Bangabandhu's murder or its conspiracy could be tried in lower court, Supreme court, or court martial.
Thus Bangladesh’s first military dictator Ziaur Rahman turned the ordinance into an act, denying people's basic rights to get justice, he further said.
The killers were protected and rewarded through the indemnity ordinance. Even some of them were endowed with embassy jobs while some became members of the parliament in 1988, he wrote in the post accompanied by a video.

The stigma was finally eradicated by the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government, which scapped the act on November 12, 1996, he concluded.
