Govt fixes rawhide prices ahead of Eid-ul-Azha
The government has increased the price of cowhide by Tk 5 per square feet compared to last year, setting the rate at Tk 60-65 within Dhaka while Tk 55–60 outside Dhaka.
Besides, the prices of goat (Khashi) and goat (Bakri) hides have been increased by Tk 2, fixing the rate at Tk 22–27 per square feet, while salt-applied goat hide will be sold at Tk 20–22.
Commerce Adviser SK Bashir Uddin came up with the information while speaking at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Sunday.

A minimum per-piece price for cowhide has been set at Tk 1,350 in Dhaka and Tk 1,150 outside the capital.
Last year, the salt-applied raw cowhide price was also Tk 60–65 per square feet in Dhaka, but only Tk 50–55 outside Dhaka.
Goat (Khashi) hide prices were fixed at Tk 20–25 and Goat (Bakri) hides at Tk 18–20 per square feet.
The minimum per-piece price for cowhide was Tk 1,200 in Dhaka and Tk 1,000 outside Dhaka.
A small cowhide measuring 20 square feet or a hide from a cow worth Tk 1 lakh would fetch the minimum per-piece price under the new structure.

Govt hikes rawhide prices ahead of Eid
Ahead of this year's Eid-ul-Azha, the government has hiked the base price of raw cowhide by Tk 7.
Raw cowhide will now cost Tk 47-52 per sq ft in Dhaka and Tk 40-44 outside the capital.
This was announced by Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi after chairing a virtual meeting at the Ministry on Tuesday.

Last year, the raw cowhide price was fixed at Tk 40-45 per sq ft in the capital and Tk 33-37 outside Dhaka.
Besides, the minister said, the price of goatskin has been fixed at Tk 18-20 per sq ft across the country, which was Tk 15-17 last year.
However, the price of female goatskin have remained the same at Tk 12-14 per sq ft.

The Minister emphasised on applying salt on animal hides soon after their sacrifices. “It will be good if people are made aware about applying salt in sermons after the next Jumma prayer,” he said.

Besides, the minister said, the prices of goatskins have been fixed at Tk 15-17 per square foot across the country while that of she-goat at Tk 12-14 against the previous year’s prices of Tk 13-15 and Tk 10-12 respectively.
“Last year, we saw a very good export trade, and we’ve to move on ensuring the fare prices of rawhide. We’ve given the approval to export rawhide which is not good for us. This year, we’ve fixed the rawhide prices after holding a meeting with all stakeholders,” he said.

Munshi urged all concerned to apply salt on animal hides soon after their sacrifices.
