Flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were disrupted for eight and a half hours on Tuesday (January 02, 2024) due to dense fog. Six flights that failed to land at the airport were diverted to Sylhet and Chittagong international airports, Executive Director of Shahjalal Airport Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam told UNB. The weather office recorded the highest 56 mm rainfall in Dimla of Rangpur division in 24 hours till 6am on Monday. The highest temperature was recorded at 35.4 degrees Celsius in Jashore of Khulna division, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 23.5 degrees in Rajarhat of Rangpur division. Meanwhile, the axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay, said the bulletin.
