Global coronavirus caseload exceeds 58 mln
The globally confirmed coronavirus cases reached 58,095,887 on Sunday with 1,379,83 deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
The US remains the worst-hit country with 12,088,409 cases, including 255,833 fatalities as of Sunday.
Brazil registered 376 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the national death toll to 168,989, the government said Saturday. The number of infections went up by 32,622, pushing the nationwide tally to 6,052,786.
Neighbouring India's coronavirus tally reached 9,095,806 on Sunday as 45,209 new cases were registered in the past 24 hours, the health ministry said.
The country’s death toll mounted to 133,227 as 501 more patients died since Saturday morning.
India currently has 440,962 active cases, while 8,521,617 patients have been discharged from hospitals.

India's COVID-19 caseload surpasses 9 mln
India's confirmed COVID-19 caseload surpassed 9 million on Friday, the federal health ministry said.
With 45,882 new cases, the tally reached 9,004,365, while the death toll reached 132,162 as 584 more patients died, the official data showed.
Still there are 443,794 active cases in the country, even as 8,428,409 people have been discharged from hospitals after treatment, reports Xinhua.
The Indian government is ramping up the COVID-19 testing facilities in the country. Till Thursday, as many as 129,591,786 tests had been done, out of which 1,083,397 tests were conducted on Thursday alone.
Over the past few days, capital Delhi has been witnessing a sudden surge in new cases. The Delhi government has implemented strict measures to contain the surge, including raising the monetary fine to 2,000 Rupees and restricting the number of guests to 50 in wedding functions.
According to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, there are 42,458 COVID-19 cases in the national capital, even as more beds, including ICU beds, are being arranged to accommodate more patients in the coming days.
Meanwhile, night curfew has been imposed in Ahmedabad city in western state Gujarat with effect from Friday to check the virus spread.
